You Are A Failure

11 Mar

You Are A Failure.

That simple.
Embrace it.

No seriously- Embrace It.

You see what I’ve learned since 2014 started is that when I fail I do two things:
1) Pick myself up.
2) Learn from it.

While 2014 has me embarking on a new journey while I hone skills in old ones and close the doors on others I learned that failure is key about 5 weeks ago.

You see I missed a small deadline.
Nothing major, no lost funding, or revenue.
But I missed it, and it worked wonders.

How you ask?

By realizing my failure I learned I had to implement a better in house system to monitor my actions.
And after that I realized that with this system I had to have a way to factor in accountability so I would learn what works for me and what doesn’t-
And discard the rest.

I also found myself revitalized when 1 simple fact dawned on me:
I refused to fail.
Without thinking I had picked myself up and looked for a solution without even realizing it.
Now I’m no genius. I’m not a guru or MIT graduate. what am is a regular guy who has spent some time listening. Especially in 2013 and the 1st month of 2014.
I invested in me.
I bought books.
Expanded my strategies and consulted other people.
And in trying to get better, it seems I did- maybe just a wee bit.

So what is the lesson here?
Don’t be afraid to fail.
Just like a baby learning to walk it’s a process.
The Success comes in how you respond to it.

No one goes to the Olympics for silver.
