Hoist some strange-looking scissors aloft and toast your favorite lefty today. Don’t get lefty behind! It’s International Left-Handers’ Day. Launched on August 13, 1992, by a group of British southpaws who wanted to make sure their sinister ways were given their due, this lefty-lauding holiday is now celebrated around the world. The U.K.-based Left-Handers Club has marked the occasion with “left-v-right sports matches, a left-handed tea party, pubs using left-handed corkscrews where patrons drank and played pub games with the left hand only, and nationwide ‘Lefty Zones,’” in which righties can awkwardly try out lefty gear.
