Personal Finance

We’re Going Over the Cliff, Ready?

We’re Going Over the Cliff, Ready?

So the Great Recession is on and by most accounts raging.
What’s next. Some say food shortages. I’m not sure but I know we all need a plan.
Are you ready?

Step 1: Take a fiscal inventory.
Everyone needs to know where they are at.
Get out a pen and a pad and write out all the debt you have and add it all up.
Next see what you make. Look at your last stub for the year and see what you made after taxes for that pay period and the year as a whole.
Your next step is to see what you spend on living expenses. Don’t include your discretionary spending. List that separately.
Once you have all these numbers worked out sit back and look at them. See if you are being foolish or fiscally fervent aka spending correctly. I’m not saying don’t have fun, just budget it in. Don’t be that guy we all know who spends all that’s left after paying his bills and saving that paltry 25 bucks a month. The odds are if you’re that guy you probably transfer that money back to your checking the day after the bank transfers it. Sounds slick to the spender, sounds like slavery to the fiscally efficient.

You have to make a choice. Decide where your values and dreams lie.
Money isn’t everything but poverty sucks. More to the point security is a better feeling and longer lasting. Anyone reading this blog on a smartphone has disposable income. The question I ask you is why dispose of it?

Step 2: Invest, save, or make more.
If you haven’t wandered away yet you probably have found at least a kernel of truth in my words. As someone who was quite the fiduciary fool in days not too far past I learned my lesson the hard way. If I could impart any wisdom it would simply be have a strategy. Let your money make money. And a favorite quote many haven’t heard: Pay you first.. Every dollar should be viewed as a soldier to get you ahead not a party animal to get you a good time with. You can easily invest in something. Not sure? Get an advisor- but do your homework. Many will have you invest in what pays them the greater commission. I personally use forms of life insurance and physical silver currently as my vehicles to grow my wealth. For me it works. For you it may not. But the silver I collect, especially the numsimatic coins, are pretty cool. These graded, sealed .999 silver coins look good and appreciate well. They are my favorite. Junk silver is pretty cool as well but we will get into that in a later article.
Next I say save a few bucks in saving. Start at 3% of every checks take home. It isn’t much but it will work. Look into what tax advantageous plans your job may offer or even your state.
When else else fails, and when it all works-
WORK MORE. there is no harm in earning extra cash. Blog for money, work security, anything. Heck see if you can work at The Gap. I worked there on and off for years and I not only got a good check and good hours I augmented my wardrobe and saved a lot on gifts for others.
Find the mode that fits you but be ready for the fiscal cliff. Even if I’m wrong deflation or inflation are on the horizons. And let’s say I’m wrong across the board- isn’t more money going to benefit you in the long run?
Heck it’ll benefit all of us today.

Mistakes, and Success

Habits, Mistakes, and Success

You can never make the same mistake twice.. because the second time you make it…. it’s not a mistake..it’s a choice….
-Quoted from Tony toca aka Djchamp the circuit troublemaker da voice of nj

Tonight I’ll be brief.
Life is a serious of decisions. And ultimately those decisions will make or break you.
Not trying to build the blog by heightening. importance but look around folks- one decision can change your life.

Mistakes
We all make them. We’re human. Normal right? Yes and no. There is no reason to make continuous mistakes a perfection will say. However I disagree. Mistakes are teachable moments; they are lessons learned. Everyone learns by making mistakes. Ever see a baby walk? They fall and fall and fall. Its the way they get it right. Do we really change that much folks?
nope.. While I aim for success and set high goals for myself and my business I know that I will stumble. I know I will learn and grow.

I also take stock of these mistakes and periodically list them so I can see if I’m making the same mistakes over and over. I’d highly suggest everyone does this. Its in essence an accountability list. Let this list of mistakes hold you to a relentless pursuit of greatness. It is never acceptable to fail continuously. It is however acceptable to make a plan and a methodology to move beyond problems. If you have read my previous articles then you know I’m a big fan of lists. I make a weekly to do list and often write out daily ones and even email myself other lists that are shorter.
These lists WORK. And in turn they will work even better for you when you put aside fear and face your shortcomings and mistakes. Another way to utilize these lists and make sure that you maximize your mistakes is to use an accountability buddy as well (another favorite tactic of mine).
Let someone see the lists you make.
Let someone know you want to succeed, you will slip up at times, and that failure is not an option.

It is my sincere belief that success is imminent when you battle mistakes head on. I’m not suggesting you are a fool. Or that you can’t do it. What I am suggesting you do is be proactive in utilizing every moment of your journey to be even greater. Mistakes are here to stay,no question about it- so why not make them a partner as opposed to an enemy?

We Accept What We Think We Deserve

19 Oct

We Accept What We Think We Deserve.

Simple. Wrong. Frustratingly Factual.
Its kind of upsetting folks that this one thought process ruins lives and dreams systematically.

-Accepting less than you deserve.
In life you deserve the best. No questions asked. The question is will you accept that?
Will you accept the blessings and responsibilities that come with it?
Your Mindset will literally predict your income and success levels. When we tell ourselves we deserve nothing- WE GET NOTHING! Simple as that. I can predict a prospect or students fiscal trajectory with a few questions. And the less they expect out of life and out of themselves the less income they will generate. The less mental wealth they will accrue.
To get to the top you have to first believe you actually belong there. If you don’t, well you don’t. A champion first believed that they were already champions, it was only a matter of time and commitment. Nothing else. Ever hear doctors tell sick patients that a positive outlook literally effects them? It does. What is your mindset?
Are you willing to accept that you are amazing? That you deserve it all?
Don’t forget the responsibilities of greatness. To whom much is given much is required. When you reach your zenith you must give back. Others must be shown the same path. This will reward both your heart and your wallet. Pretty cool I say.

-Playing small.
Playing small serves no purpose.
No one was made to be nothing- pardon the double negative, it’s intentional. Greatness is destiny. There is unlimited potential in all of us. Reach for it. When you achieve build off of it. Every achievement is a stepping stone. as such you must continually progress to being greater than you are today. Your tomorrows don’t belong to you so make them amazing for others and you will in turn be amazing. Be a wellspring of true greatness.

-Manifest your success.
The easiest way to break this down is that its exactly what it sounds like. Only you have the ability to create your success. You may come from wealth, or have a huge family company- irrelevant. And I know a lot of people will argue me on this but my position is simple: you are only successful by your OWN hand. What you create, design, or maintain. How many lottery winners aren’t broke 5 years after they win? Heck 2 years creates a path of tragedy that for some even culminates in suicide. How sad that is. Some people inherit vast empires and run them into the ground ruining that which their forefathers sweated for. You see what you don’t have equity in you don’t value. As this works out in my head means only one thing: you make yourself what you are. Statistics would label me a failure based on generic acquired data. To put it another way an unacceptable percentage of males in my position, sex, race, etc fail at life. Yet I never accepted failure as an option. I have had numerous pitfalls and I myself have been the author of my disaster at times- and I always bounced back. Deep in my heart there is a fear of failure. But there is a bigger fear of not being me. And I’ve always wanted to be the best or amongst the best. I want to win. I meditate on thriving and not surviving (#thriveorsurvive).

Find Your Rhythm (Find Your Fuels 3rd installment)

15 Oct

Find Your Rhythm.

Life moves fast. And odds are you are wasting a hefty amount of time not by being unproductive but by being off point. Ever notice that when you’re in the groove things work in an almost magical way. Your stars align, the trains on time, and the dry cleaner made your suit ever so crisp.
The secret here isn’t vitamins or magic incantations or mystical blessings.
It’s Finding Your Rhythm.

-Go With Your Gut.
At every turn their are options. You have to focus and learn to know without knowing. And no, I’m not a Jedi. What I am saying is that we all have an intuition. Intuition let’s you see what’s coming albeit not as clear as a picture. Intuition is what I consider to be my guiding light. It will show me many paths and usually in an order that precipitates growth, peace, or success. I’ve had my intuition show me danger and save me from it. Literally. I’ve met people who would bring me harm or rob me of my peace. And intuition has shown me out the gate that these people are poison. And so I avoided them. This is really important folks. Many people will disrupt your rhythm. In fact they may come into your life only to do just that. Many people thrive on bringing failure to others. And knowing to avoid them alone will bring you unparalleled success. This is essential when picking your team folks.
Intuition will help you feel what avenue to travel on the road to success. Ever worked a job you hated? And from the first day it felt wrong? There was a voice inside of you that knew this wasn’t right. At that point you were out of your rhythm. Not every dollar is a good dollar. And most jobs we take can be equated to slavery. Why you ask? Because even though you are paid you are suffering the whole time. Someone else is winning off of your efforts. For me I feel this a lot. I have a great job. Love it. However it isn’t what’s best for me. Rising to the top as an entrepreneur is. How do I know?
The idea brings me peace.
The idea has been there since critical thinking’s inception in my cranium.
And as my intelligence has grown so has my intuition. And both tell me its time to fly solo.

-Dancers.
Lastly have you seen Dancing with the Stars? A lot of these people can’t dance. They have no rhythm. They are out of sync. And it shows. Do you see where you are out of sync? Are you aware you are off rhythm to the Beat of Life? Finding your rhythm will be akin to fresh air. It will be like enlightenment to a Buddhist I hope this last bit of imagery illustrates how important it is to Find Your Rhythm.
