Entrepreneurial mindset from Steve Jobs (from an old article)

8 Oct

Steve Jobs where he describes the mindset of an entrepreneur perfectly:

“When you grow up, you’re told the world is the way it is and your existence is just to live in this world without bashing into the walls too much…to have a nice family life…and to gather up a little money. But life is much broader. And it changes when you realize that everything in life you interact with is created by people that are no smarter than you. The most important moment in a person’s life is when you shake off this erroneous notion that life is there and you’re just going to live it. You can change it and make your mark on it. And once you learn that, you’ll never be the same again.”

FDR on the Power Of Your Mind

Consider these wise words from Franklin D. Roosevelt:

“Men are not prisoners of fate, but prisoners of their own minds.” He is absolutely right.

The Customer Service Is Always Right

17 Apr

The Customer Service Is Always Right.

Simple, to the point, factual.
About a year ago I began a working business relationship via networking online. That relationship bore fruit in repeat services being sold. And then some of those sales lead to more clients buying services.
Long story short I’m nowhere without my customers, but let’s review how I got there.

1) Always respect the Dream.
A lot of people have dreams you don’t agree with. And you know what who cares- you don’t make a sale by needling the client. If you can improve what they have, by all means do so.
Tread lightly though. Always respect their process. Reach them effectively. Think before you speak.
Your job is to facilitate.
That’s it.

2) Always offer Value.
There is nothing that sells better than something people need. They don’t want your name or reputation. They want VALUE. So create or offer something people need and or want.
The name of the game is always Value.
Do your clients need affordable housing?
Find it. Better yet- Build it.

3) Never stop Creating value.
Now there are clients. Awesome, revenue finally! Now the hard work begins. How are you going to not just add clientele but keep existing clientele. And at that how do you keep them happy. You see referrals are your best bet to build your business.
And the customer/client- I don’t call them guests- is your best bet at building your business. How do you keep clients happy? You increase value. Make their ROI greater.
If you found them a great rental property, find them another one- find them a better one. Did you get them into a great lease?
Get them one with better amenities.
In PR? Get them some promo before they expect it and call and show them they are your priority.
A satisfied client is as important, and communication is big part of that equation.

4) Keep in Contact with clients, Build Every relationship.
Never lose contact with clients.
Never.
Always facilitate open communication and be available.
Cater to their needs.
But before that be available. Emails, calls, heck- BBM if it works for you. Just make sure the clients and people in your network know you are there for them 24/7. It’s a cheap cliche but Business never sleeps.

Let Your Light Shine

16 Apr

“We are told to let our light shine, and if it does, we won’t need to tell anybody it does. Lighthouses don’t fire cannons to call attention to their shining- they just shine.”

― Dwight L. Moody

So what’s your lighthouse doing?

Your Best Isn’t Good Enough

13 Apr

Your Best Isn’t Good Enough.
No seriously.

Don’t be a coward.
Don’t say I’m putting you down.
Accept the truth.

Now I’m not being the prick you think I am. I’m trying to drive home a point.
My point is that you can’t make excuses. There is never a time your best is good enough.
Your everything is acceptable.

Now maybe I’m confusing you.
Let me clear this up a bit.
A lot of people will say they did their best. But what really is your best?
Is it that today you did a lot?
Almost made it your goal, but not quite…

You see most people will tell you they do their best day in and day out.
I call foul on the play.

If you are giving your best you will succeed. But only you know if you are giving your best.

I’ll do you one better: Aim for Excellence.

When excellence is your goal you will go beyond your best.
There will be no excuses.
Simple applied action.

Let your mindset be that failure is not an option.
That you will achieve relentlessly.

That my friends is how things are done.

The pursuit of excellence has to be just that- you, chasing the dream and living it as you do so.
No excuses. No “just your best”.
Nothing else except you killing it.
