Mindset From Jim Henson

29 Mar

“I think if you study, if you learn too much of what others have done, you may tend to take the same direction as everyone else. It a just a matter of figuring out how bring receive the information or ideas that are waiting to be heard. I find that it really helped me to start the day with a good frame of reference. As part of my prayers I thanked who Evers helping me. I’m somebody or something is”

Herbalife Under investigation- MLM scam or Prime Stock

13 Mar

I’m sure many of you have seen that the FTC is investigating Herbalife.
Now many people are going to scream Dirty MLM!
These pyramid people are always abusing their recruits!

Let’s take a step back and look clearly at facts.

-First no one has been found guilty.
-An investigation of this nature takes between 12 to 18 months.
-There is no smoking gun here either folks.

Now even if Herbalife has been guilty of wrong doing, does it mean all MLMs are inherently evil and or flawed?

Absolutely Not.

How can I be so sure you ask?
It’s actually quite simple.
The business model referred to as an “MLM” is quite a prosperous and fair one when applied correctly.
Catch that?

And by applied I mean both by the MLM and those who join.
You see no business is easy.
Derek Jeter worked to get where he was. Michael Jordan was a lousy ball player initially.
Get it?
Everything worth doing requires work- Hard Work.
When you join an MLM you have to put in the work.
The mindset in an MLM has to be “I Will Do for 6 to 12 months what no one else will do to Live forever as No one Will.”

And I would wager that every leader knows this.

Now to succeed in business you have to be willing.
Open a store?
Who will put in the hours etc?
You.
Join a MLM that revolves around tea, yeah YOU have to put in the hours.

Folks, regardless of what happens only you will build your empire.
Doctors put in the years.
Jordan did too.
So before you go blaming the MLM concept do your homework.

Even Robert Kiyosaki says that MLMs are great.
The learning programs, the tutelage, the leadership, the training- they are comprehensive and available.

To me this sounds great.
And to be honest I’ve always loved the MLM business model.
I’ve used it time and again.
I won’t hide motives or pretend to be unbiased.
What I will do is let you know that news always has a slant.
And that people always have agendas and needs.

All you and I can do is make informed decisions and chase our dreams.

Leadership

The secret of a leader lies in the tests he has faced over the whole course of his life and the habit of action he develops in meeting those tests.

You Are A Failure

11 Mar

You Are A Failure.

That simple.
Embrace it.

No seriously- Embrace It.

You see what I’ve learned since 2014 started is that when I fail I do two things:
1) Pick myself up.
2) Learn from it.

While 2014 has me embarking on a new journey while I hone skills in old ones and close the doors on others I learned that failure is key about 5 weeks ago.

You see I missed a small deadline.
Nothing major, no lost funding, or revenue.
But I missed it, and it worked wonders.

How you ask?

By realizing my failure I learned I had to implement a better in house system to monitor my actions.
And after that I realized that with this system I had to have a way to factor in accountability so I would learn what works for me and what doesn’t-
And discard the rest.

I also found myself revitalized when 1 simple fact dawned on me:
I refused to fail.
Without thinking I had picked myself up and looked for a solution without even realizing it.
Now I’m no genius. I’m not a guru or MIT graduate. what am is a regular guy who has spent some time listening. Especially in 2013 and the 1st month of 2014.
I invested in me.
I bought books.
Expanded my strategies and consulted other people.
And in trying to get better, it seems I did- maybe just a wee bit.

So what is the lesson here?
Don’t be afraid to fail.
Just like a baby learning to walk it’s a process.
The Success comes in how you respond to it.

IF…

17 Feb

“If you understand others you are smart.
If you understand yourself you are illuminated.
If you overcome others you are powerful.
If you overcome yourself you have strength.
If you know how to be satisfied you are rich.
If you can act with vigor, you have a will.
If you don’t lose your objectives you can be long-
lasting.
If you die without loss, you are eternal.”
~Lao Tzu

My Boss Yelled At Me

13 Jan

So a week ago my boss at my day job yelled at me.

Was I embarrassed?
No, not at all.
Why?
I handled it well.
And I was inspired by it.

Here are the lessons from my 5 minutes of madness.

Always Keep Your composure.
In the midst of a verbal barrage and repeated threats I didn’t raise my voice or reply in kind.
It made me look regal and my attacker look petty and childish.

Also when you get into an argument with someone you enter into a contract of sorts. Both parties are now stuck in a combative energy and are wasting efforts.
Is that what you really want out of your life?
Isn’t your time and energy worth more?

-Don’t have a Boss.
I realized that while I had a huge victory in this incident via my self control-
I would be a bigger winner still if I had no boss.
I love my job and all that comes with it.
Yet there is a huge chunk of me that yearns to be free. To be in charge.
I love the idea of being my own boss.
For a few years my father worked for himself, and I remember the freedom it afforded him.
And honestly, I’d rather lead than follow, work from home, and keep all the loot my efforts reap.

-Build your OWN Empire.
Having an empire of your own will afford you the ability to be in a position where no one can stop you.
A position where no one will be able to demean you.
You will always be at the top.
You will be unstoppable.
I could say more on this topic but who doesn’t want to be the head honcho of a major enterprise?
Sounds pretty sweet right?

-Poor leadership.
This is a trap you don’t want to fall in.
Never give in to being less than is required, less than you can be.
Leadership requires that you make sacrifices and that you always lead by example.
Never lose your cool.
Never forget to be the best.
Only then can you work with the best.

Financial Troubles Don’t Stop the Willing

16 Dec

Walt Disney had a few failed business ventures that forced him to file bankruptcy in 1923. This was before his Disney success that we all know him for.

Donald Trump filed for corporate bankruptcy Four times.

Though he filed in. 1991, 1992, 2004, and 2009- he has never filed for personal bankruptcy- An important distinction which shows his ability to emerge unscathed-
At least financially.

Lesson here: Be tenacious and have the mindset of a champion.
Nothing Stops Those Willing To Go All The Way.
