No Article tonight, just Read Mark Cuban’s article

9 Feb

Not pushing his agenda in any way shape or form.
I simply want people to hear what a self made BILLIONAIRE thinks.

Read how he writes.
See how he writes. That’s it folks.

Weekend Reading

7 Feb

I won’t be watching the Super Bowl.
But I will be reading all weekend and hitting the gym to increase my value and get ahead.
Sorry folks, no insults to anyone- I just don’t watch sports.

If you do, enjoy.
Just remember to make sure the TV isn’t holding your dream hostage.

Stop Yelling at the Dog

20 Jan

Picture it: Sicily, 1938…
OK I’m not Sophia from Golden Girls, but my story will have a lesson.

I’m walking up the block after a late meeting at the office.
Across the street this guy is yelling at his beagle and yanking hard on the leash.

He is telling the dog to stay repeatedly while he himself is edging into traffic to cross the street.

He stops and yells at the beagle, that if it doesn’t stop it will get hit by a car and that it has to listen to reason.

Stop and let that sink in.

Now I’m not trying to piss off PETA, but it was a dog not another adult.

And he was in the wrong by jaywalking himself.

What am I getting at?

*Are you Leading by example?
Do you do what you ask of others?
If you want me to recruit I hope you have mastered that skill set. Doing things the right way is not just proper folks, it’s second only to helping others in leadership.

*How are you communicating?
I hate being yelled at by my peers, higher ups, or bosses.
And I’d wager so does everyone.
So don’t yell at people.
Effective communication is two parts listening, one part talking.
Condescension is fun

– for some, but pain for others. So skip that too.
Simply put; don’t be a jerk.

*Lastly, have realistic expectations of those around you.
This guy told the beagle to listen to reason.
The team goes at the speed of the leader. And if the leader expects the team to deliver 1000% of the time like he does, yeah failure rates become astronomical.
Be present minded. Know what can and cannot be done.
In the gym, the newbie can’t bench 2 plates. So if he starts with dimes- that is still progress. As to my last point- Congratulate them. To the first point, lift the same amount and show and explain how to get to the 2 plates.
See how that last part tied it all in?

I’m willing to bet you did.

Get it done

19 Jan

So the powerball was almost 2 billion dollars last week.

And I saw people pooling money, flying into New York city from all over the country, and buying more tickets outside of their group purchase.

All in hopes of achieving some grand dream of having wealth.

And guess what?
None of em won a red cent.
Yup. That’s right.

And what came next you ask?
They itched and moaned about how no one from New York ever wins.
How it ain’t right.
How they would work and not be greedy if they had won…
What a load of malarkey.

Now instead of this wasted cash, time and energy – why didn’t any of these people say “F that noise! I’m going to build my own dream!”

If all energy is focused on a realistic goal, even if it is baby steps to start, then the lottery and who won it becomes irrelevant.

Lesson here: don’t waste your time on pipe dreams when there are opportunities right in front of you if you simply train the brain to see them.
More on that later this month.

Monday Motivation

18 Jan

A little Monday Motivation.
Call it BHAG, aka
Big
Hairy
Audacious
Goals

If it isn’t too big for where you’re at now it isn’t a goal.
Exceeding your own expectations should be your new normal.

My immediate goals and year long ones are ones I wasn’t sure I could accomplish. However, putting them on paper and sharing with my inner circle has galvanized my inner compass.

What is motivating you?
Have you written out your goals?
Do you have a specific, step by step plan to get there?
Let me know.
Like/comment if I motivate you.

Put Your Energy into Things YOU can Change

10 Jan

Yes folks,
You should only focus on the things you can change.
Example : if you can’t lower production cost of your product(s),

-Focus on providing greater value.
Make it your mission to consistently add value. Clients and customers will see the consistent increase of value and will return over and over again.

-Give your clients better education on the market so they will know you are providing the superior product.

I could go on with a thousand examples of but I’m sure you get the point.
Focus only on the things you can change.
A concerted effort will take you to the next level of business and satisfy your clientele.

No business partners for me

8 Jan

So not long ago, I offered a friend a piece of my company.
At first he waffled. Then when I gave him a time ultimatum, he was in.

And then- nothing.

At first I was quite perturbed.
Then I realized it was dead weight being cut off.
Chaff being tossed with the refuse.

Am I disposing of my friend?
By no means.
It’s just a life lesson: Not everyone you know is on the same path.

I am resolute in my decision to fire my boss.
He is not.
And that’s okay.

This has actually increased my appetite for risk- in a healthy way.
As Matt Damon said in Rounders: “You can’t lose what you don’t put in the middle. But you can’t win it either.”

There is no risk without reward.
And as such, having lost some dead weight in my company I can now move faster.
I know my mission is mine alone to run.
Now when I get that first million, maybe I’ll get a secretary and pay someone to wash my car. 😉
