BLACKBERRY TIP (WELL OK, 2 TIPS)

5 Feb

Set your blackberry email to check spelling before sending.

Professionalism is key. You are basically disgusting if you don’t accept preprogrammed, available help from RIM, now known as Blackberry.
Every email you send even in a casual setting should be proper. Spelling and grammar always count. A small mistake may be overlooked, but continuous errors insure you will pay a price.
However if you go into options in your message folder you will see a spell check option- set it to check emails before sending and then hit save. This will definitely help. Email is a viable resource so use it to your advantage.

Merge your blackberry’s inbox’s of all types.
Why have your different message types in more than one inbox? Put them all to go into one location.
Again go to options, then inbox management. Then check each box and click save. Now you have any and every message you might need in one convenient location.
Save time, and locate needed emails asap.

Bonus Tip: enable keyboard shortcuts in web by going to web browser options and enabling and saving said option.

Super Bonus Tip: The S key will take you to your saved messages once you are in your messages inbox. I save many messages at least for 90 days and I bet many of you do too.

And now the Super Duper Bonus Tip:
Alter your message delete timetable.
Go to your inbox and then to options.
From there go to Message Display and Actions. From there go to the bottom and click- Days to keep messages: Forever.
Now you choose what you keep or delete.
Pretty cool right?

Blackberry Tips For My Readers

19 Jan

Blackberry tips for simple use and freeing up memory on your Rim Smart phones.

Ok folks I re-upped and consolidated my blackberry posts so a lot of help is in one place for my readers. I’ve also written posts on blackberry, android, and apple that help manage accounts, find you great apps, and show great shortcuts and ways to optimize your smartphone. Hit the search and pick you poison.

These tips are simple and direct from RIM.

-Type *ld without the star. It will put today’s date.

-Type *lt without the star. It will put the exact, current time according to your phone.

-Type Myver* without the star. It will tell you what bb and os (operating system) you are currently running. It will look like this: 9900/7.0.0.576 (B2392).

-Type Mypin* without the star. It will type out your pin for sharing and or viewing.
It will look like this: pin:123456A.

-Hold both the Alt key and right aA key down and then hit the delete key. This will reset your phone. Essentially its a hard reboot akin to a battery pull but better in my opinion.

-Hold the same two keys, (the Alt key and right aA key) except no delete key.
Instead hit the h key for help desk window
Information.

-Hold Alt and type lglg.
This takes you to the event log. Now if this is your personal phone you don’t have to keep the log. Clear the event logs daily. You have no need of them and your blackberry will be noticeably different. Also hit the r key to refresh the event log as it may be volumes and volumes. Once you can’t see more to clear. Close out completely.

-Go to options, then security, than advanced security settings. In there you want to find Memory Cleaning. Do the clean now to remove data that isn’t needed. You can set it too delete on a schedule but I find that its timing never matches mine. So better yet-
Use the option to put its icon on your home screen and do it yourself. Daily.

-Want to type ALL CAPS? Hold the alt key and then hit the right aA key. This will let you WRITE LIKE THIS.

-Need to add a numerical sequence? Hold the alt key and hit the left aA key. (:-4 1-”” !2 (:2 324_”(
aka- this will be the result.

-Lastly in your messages folder hold the alt key and hit the p key. This will show you your phone calls in their entirety. If you need privacy delete this. If you want more free memory- delete this.

-Rather than looking at signal bars, you can change the coverage indicator to show ‘signal strength’ in digital (dBm) format. While at the home (icon) screen, hold down the ALT key while you type NMLL. The bars change to digital mode. A lower number is better, and anything between -90 to -50 dBm is good.
-To get the signal bars back, repeat the process: hold down the ALT key while you type NMLL.

So now you know your blackberry a little better. And it will run better as well.
Succeed my friends.

The Top Reasons Why Your Company Needs a Blog- Part #3

The Top Reasons Why Your Company Needs a Blog- Part #3

Ok folks I changed the title- like it better?
I think its a neater version; concise. So I’m going to round out this trifecta with 4 more tips.

Customer Support Help.
Getting repeat questions from your customers? Are people intrigued by the same issues- or perhaps they are befuddled by one step in your process? Well the easy cool way to fix this is to make a blog post for each issue that pops up often. It takes the burden off your customer support department- which in the early days if your anything like me is just you. Your small business has enough challenges so let’s meet this one head on and kill two birds with one stone. This also shows customers and potential clients that you are dedicated and serious about helping your customers.

Author Credibility.
Want to make your Ceo POP? Perhaps you want to have more of your key employees share their insights and let new ones shine. Well your blog is the place to do it. Doing this will give your employees (and the CEO) some ‘street cred’ and make them feel good. Make this more effective by having every author create a Google+ profile. If they have one, let them take it up a notch. And adding the aforementioned Google Authorship status will really make your business and your blog shine.
Last step- don’t make every post just admin posts.

blog comments and commentors are heaven.. Did I say heaven? I meant pure gold. These comments are essentially you and your customers and clients dialoguing. It gives you key insight and ideas for the future. You can mine this gold for better products or great blog posts too.
It takes a bit of effort and time to comment on a blog post so anyone who takes the time is worth a look. Ask questions, comment, but speak up. These people are potential clients, business partners and more. You may find a twitter worth following or that testimonial for your site you’ve been looking for. Also these comments and your replies add meat to your blog. They also do this for both you and your readers when it comes to search engines. This will make your blog better and easier to index.

Blogging Shows you are still in the game, Still Relevant, Still in Business.
Ever look at a companies website and its obviously dated? You guys know what I mean- the 1990’s theme and scheme aka bad layout. Did you see any social media links or an embed button? Pinterest?
If the site has a blog, is it old with the last post dated 1 year ago or worse? People don’t blog if you won’t do it frequently. Google wants to see you blogging often if you are going to be considered active and worth revisiting regularly and re-indexing. If your site isn’t updated often that tells Google to visit you less. It lowers your sites value to Google. This may even cause Google to rank you lower and lower.

The blog will build for you almost on autopilot, you just have to blog regularly.
