Your Body is A Result Of The Path You Take
      (So Is Your Business)

If you read my blog you will see I’m quite an enthusiast for bodybuilding and weightlifting in general. To me they are the
true athletes. These two branches of the same tree require more effort and longer time frames. They require an inner greatness most refuse to accept resides inside them. Indeed many people are afraid to rise to the greatness that is humanity at large. But I digress- what bothers me most is that people will blame everyone but themselves. Ever see the guy or gal who is in the gym 3 times week and has no results?
Its scarily normal. They do circuit training and read Men’s Health and all that jazz. Yet they stop there.
And this is why they fail. Your body will be no more than the path you travel. Simple. Easy. Factual. Your body is a manifestation of you. It is essentially you. If you are mad at your shape or lack of muscle tone you are to blame. If you are at your pinnacle, the zenith- then you win. You have done what you set out to. See me, I’ve been there. Thrice. And receded. Thrice. No good. The cool part is I don’t quit. I fight my way back repeatedly until I win. However my failures are my fault. I walked off my path. At one point I hit 293 lbs and flabby. And when I chose to fight I hit 243 in 3.5 months. Will power, did it for me. I had supplements and a good gym. And I changed my diet and eating habits. It worked; because I worked hard at being a better me. And when I wanted to benchpress 325 pounds with no help – I did it. ME.
You see the mind is a fickle thing. It requires you to believe in it. It requires your heart be part of the conspiracy. You see to get anything done requires a conspiracy. Now I don’t mean the negative birther kind.
Conspiring can be perceived as you and your mind and heart meeting to beat your body. And that isn’t bad. You may prefer teamwork as the term of choice. I say no.
We as people wanting to improve our bodies must conspire against our bodies.
Tom Platz said ‘Put Your mind in the muscle’. He is right (Fyi Mr. Platz is a world renowned body builder). To get his body right required his mind to be the best and the boss.

Okay I droned on enough. How does this all relate? Well, Your business won’t be more than you are. If your paperwork is shabby you lose. If your product is trash, find a garbage can. Not to be a jerk but your business is a result of the path you take; of the path you choose. You are in charge.
What growth you gain you manifest. Make a decision- stick with it. Be more than your idea. Be the boss. Be the fact. Be the fiction. Every business begins with a dream and from there you must make the rest balloon larger than reality. The path you choose is the only thing that will make you a success or a failure.
Simply put we get only what we put in. Leadership requires you lead.
Success requires you make moves.
What will you do?
Will you choose the truth? Or blame the economy?

Prioritize Your Mind

12 Sep

Prioritize Your Mind.

I don’t care what you do or how you do it. If you don’t prioritize your mind you have wasted your efforts. A clear concise plan and a cool head will triumph in most if not all situations.

-Tasks.
Everyday we all have tasks that have to be completed. And any action or decision or plan can be broken down into pieces. If you need a cake- you get ingredients. Then you mix them. Then you cook them. Cake is then frosted and eventually served and shared. I know, so easy a cave man….
However a lot of people don’t differentiate the process as multiple steps, aka tasks. Whatever you have to do, break it down into a concise list of steps.

Opening a business? Same thing. You get funding, you incorporate, you advertise. Get the drift.

-Priorities.
Now you know to get tasks done and to break anything down so a complex task becomes minimized into concise motions that create momentum. What a lot of people forget is that the same 4 steps, done out of order- create drag. Aka, you lose momentum and become the very enemy that you worked to defeat. And while this isn’t war, your life, your work are just as real. Just as serious. If you don’t fight for your success and to solidify your dreams as triumphs you are nothing. Sorry. It’s raw, its real.

The difference.
Tasks have to be done. And they have to be PRIORITIZED. In opening a business I say inc/llc first. Why? Create your corporate entity first so every action after generates action or tax breaks. Also being legit not only looks good but sets a framework. Then get a business plan and then funding. After these steps you seek clients and or advertising to compliment your prior actions. See how actions aka tasks, when prioritized create power, momentum, and legitimize you? This is how business people act. A good idea implemented wrong will ruin you or at the least delay your greatness from materializing. And sorry folks but we aren’t meant to be anything but great so don’t marginalize yourself.

-Know your goal.
Body builder vs power-lifter.
A favorite theme of mine as most if not all my readers know. I love to lift weights. However I went about it wrong. I initially wanted to get to big numbers. I wanted to be the strongest body builder- WRONG.
I realized what I wanted was great strength but in a body builders physique. A power-lifter isn’t concerned with his physique. He just crushes the weights. He lifts and lifts and lifts until he supersedes himself. What I wanted was a large mass of muscle that was well sculpted and usable. See Arnold Schwarzenegger or Jay Cutler.
While both are massively strong, the aesthetics were the key to making their dreams come true.
So know your goal.
Know what it means.
Know what it requires and what it becomes.
At that point you will find freedom and success.

Good is the enemy of great. (Hat tip to KayK).

10 Jul

Good is the enemy of great.
(Hat tip to KayK).

Good is the enemy of great.
Wow. That is amazing. I’m not a nut. I’m not stoned people. No I simply stumbled upon the only concept I may ever need to motivate myself.
In life you can be good and it might get you to second place. That’s cool. But like Bruce Jenner I aspire for the top. I want to be the king olympiad. The guy who got silver rarely smiles. The guy who got bronze is feeling like the Boss. Why? He can eclipse silver next year. The difference between good and great is the same as first and second. Anyone can be top five, top three. It takes a champion to be first. It takes a champion to get the GOLD. And sadly we aren’t all made to be First place. Wait, I recant that statement. We aren’t all made to be first. To be Gold. And that is OK. What I simply encourage we all do is aim to be the best. If your goals are small so shall your results be. If your dreams are small you likewise will achieve just about nothing. Now if your needs are small, by all means do you my friends. Yet no one wins when you don’t aim for greatness. Your playing small will not honor your ancestors or be the proper action for the globe as a whole.

Good. Sounds well, good enough. That reminds me of second place which in my world is the second loser. You heard me people. Second place is the first loser.
What would ever be cool in failure. Sorry olympians- but you know you didn’t go for the silver. When I order steak I don’t want the sides. I want the steak. The sides are a bonus. And also good enough sucks. Sorry if that’s abrasive but its honest. Giving your best is acceptable. Good enough isn’t. And as such good can abjectly be said to equate failure when considered in comparison to great.

Let’s review:
Good: satisfactory in quality, quantity, or degree.
Great: unusual or considerable in degree, power, intensity.

When we look at these definitions from Dictionary.com we see something startling. Its appears to indicate that there is an A student and a C student to put it simply. Now both students get the job done, they both pass muster. However one is a champion and one simply had completion on the play. A lot of NFL players make touchdowns and game winning plays, but every year there is only one superbowl winner. The second place guy was good- Real Good. However they weren’t great. That’s the difference in success. You can sell a few ppl, sign up a few more. The Greats though close massively.
Its time to be Great people.
Are you committed to the extra mile?
Will you exceed even your own expectations?
Forget Superman. Be the hero in your story.

#thriveorsurvive.

If I have the belief that I can do it, I shall surely acquire the capacity to do it even if I may not have the capacity at the beginning.

Tell yourself YOUR TRUTH, not the TRUTH.

11 Jun

Tell yourself YOUR TRUTH, not the TRUTH.

People will never tell you how great you are. Ok so it sounds like a pessimistic start but bear with me.
In life you may be the champ and never be acknowledged as so- FACT. But that’s irrelevant. If you are aiming high solely for the accolades you are only going to be the stepping stone that others step on to get to the top. That being said today we will focus on creating your own truth.

-Create your own truth. Daily.
You are the BEST. FACT. Always believe that. Create your own truth daily. Now first you should create a basic truth. If you box- I’m better than Ali.
If you sell- I’m the number one sales agent in North America.
If you recruit- I recruit more people than Noah did animals for his ark!
Get the drift? You must first create a truth of greatness in order to be the Greatest. Sounds simple but this small step has proven quite elusive for many people.
So first establish that you are the greatest. Second daily affirm that truth with a sub-truth. This can be as simple as I will smile more than anyone today. Or I will get 5 new names and email addresses. Simple right?
Remember do it daily and success is a given.

-Believe this truth even when it isn’t.
Simple fact is you won’t always feel Great.
You have to believe you are great before every victory and every defeat. People will not always believe in you but you must believe in your greatness even when you are not. Jay Cutler aka Mr. Olympia tore his bicep, and he will compete again. He lost a Mr. Olympia only to reclaim the crown. Another great is Muhammad Ali who lost his belt only to reclaim it. No one thought he would. And he DID. You see it isn’t always going to seem the truth, your greatness that is. Yet you must dig into your inner being and even after you have failed 99 times you stand again and re-embark on the journey to greatness.

-Repeat this truth.
Repeating affirmations and other confidence boosters becomes more than cool words. This simple exercise will over time lead to you convincing yourself that it is truth. An once this truth becomes self evident true growth and astounding results will occur rapidly.
Now that you have the conviction. You have to use it. Any new skill unused is useless. We don’t grow to not achieve. We grow to gain. And as we gain knowledge, wealth, power, or compassion we are required to give of these things to better ourselves and others until the victory is magnified.
Believe you are great and you will be great.

Goal achieved in the flesh

Know YOUR GOAL

Know YOUR GOAL

So I was watching Jay Cutler aka Mr. Olympia at a speaking event. For those of my readers who are like- huh?- Jay is basically the top body builder in the world. People from all over the globe come to compete in the Mr. Olympia. In essence you don’t just walk in and become the champ. You fight and claw your way to the top. And most of your competitors- are former Mr Olympias. Doesn’t it just get better?
I say all this as a preamble.
So let me segway-
Jay was giving a talk, kind of informal and part q&a. And people asked what do you bench?
What do you squat?
Dead-lift?

someone said what do you clear in…..?
And Jay said? I don’t know. I don’t do that. That’s power lifting not bodybuilding.
Said concisely- one is about what you lift one is about what you shape. Power lifters and there bunch are about massive, brute, strength. And they work at it. They put in the hours, no question. But its a different sport. Bodybuilders attain a weight class and size they want. And they don’t just bulk up. They shape it. They even it out. Proportion and mass are balanced. Posing routines are mastered, tans gotten… You get the point.

WHATS YOUR POINT TONY?
Glad you asked.
See Jay didn’t answer. He didn’t get a ‘tude. He pointed out what was His Goal.
He is a body builder not a power lifter. Nuff said. And here in lies the key to today’s lesson: KNOW YOUR GOAL.
Elegant in its simplicity but so powerful.
If you have a goal what is it?
Have you decided?
Is it one goal with a few facets?
Are you trying to build multiple streams of income at once?
If so, brother you might just lose. You see FOCUS. Is the name of the game.
Is your goal- ill be rich. Pretty close. How about my venture will make me rich.
Or I will sign up 8 associates.
I will sell a property a month.
I will save 12 percent of every check I receive.
See the pattern developing?
These are goals. Concise, Focused, you-centric goals.
You-centric. Sounds odd, I know. But think about what it means. Your goal- is YOU specific. See? There’s accountability built into your goal. A dream has now become a goal. A hope is on its path to reality. There’s a specific set of rules to succeed in life. There is no free buffet. Everything has a price.
To be your own boss.
To be independently wealthy.
To be able to live where you want with whom you please and as you please to- all require action. These things require goals,
a plan- a written plan,
A commitment
A belief
And consistency.
Now we have spoke on many of these things and there are more steps and further breakdowns we will discuss as we progress down this road together.
But just as I have committed to this blog you have to commit to ONE, 1, GOAL.
Know this goal. If I asked you at 3am what your goal is would you curse me or have a succinct answer?
And guess what. I don’t expect you will have but one goal. Or even one dream. Life is a series of small victories chained together to create a dynamic, fruitful, epic that will have been a greater ride than the destination. Use THIS Goal as a stepping stone.
Set it. Focus it. Smash it out of the park. Do your end zone dance. And then, rinse and repeat. AKA start the process over. The first goal met will fuel you to rise past the next 5 and so forth.

The three simple steps

3 Jun

So- My regular readers know I’m a fiend for the gym. Now my friends know I’m husky-ish, lol. But see, my goal has always been to build mass, then strength, and beauty aka the gym body is last in line for goals. Now I’m down, down to 270. I was bigger. I was smaller last year but I decided I wanted to be bigger. I decided I didn’t want the trim. I wanted to eat the gym.
Now being the MENSA member I am I hurt my back at a peak of strength 6 months ago. Pressing 120 pound dumb bells on the incline bench I strained my lower back, abs, transversals, and obliques- yup, major ouch.
Now that was the easy part. The mental fear lasted about two months longer.
However, three keys opened the door to a greater return on not only my physical investment in the self but in my online ventures.

What are they you ask? Simple. So simple it scares me.

Belief, Commitment, and Consistency.
That’s it.

So let me expound on this incrementally.

BELIEF- if you don’t believe in you, no one will. So simple its elegance will pass most of us by. Nothing is accomplished without belief. And a million twitter followers might, might help- but YOU HAVE to Believe in you first and foremost. What you believe you will achieve. And sorry for the cheap cliche but its true. How can you lead if you don’t have the belief?
How can they follow one who’s belief is not in his self and then in them. Its like fear- its contagious. So I ask, what do you want to infect your friends, family, team, prospects, leads and even yourself with…..

Commitment: if you don’t commit nothing happens. Belief is simply the turn key. I’d you don’t commit you will get nowhere. Is that success? I’d say no! It reeks of ignorance and fear. Commitment, when based on Belief will take you to heights unseen. Your commitment is like bricks in a wall. The more you re-affirm it the greater the wall, aka your success. Commitment is exactly what it sounds like- a union without end. No boundaries. You COMMIT and make it work. No excuses or theories. Get it done. I could say more but if you’re reading this you get the message.

Consistency: so you get that belief is a stepping stone of epic proportions. And you know you MUST Commit to your self if not to your venture and your success. Consistency is quite possibly the glue of not just simple success but of Leadership. You see for your life or your marriage or your business to succeed- you have to be a LEADER. People want to be lead. They want someone who steps into the void and illuminates the path. People as a whole want leadership- Obama stepped into a gap as big as a continent and convinced the populace to carpe diem with him. Get the point? His message was consistent. His terms as well. He followed through on what he said he would do. He believed he could do it. Most importantly he has been consistent in his dreams and objectives. So you’re a republican- fine. But see the message. Consistency changes not just singular lives but families, neighborhoods, cities and so forth. So I challenge you:
BE CONSISTENT. Let that goal lead you to be the business man and leader you were meant to be. Day in and day out meet every challenge and goal with a zeal that would put St. Peter to shame.
Let that bloom from your commitment to greatness. Your ability to meet every day and every task anew and smash them like a volley in your final match- sampras/agassi style.
Lastly let this all bloom from a healthy BELIEF in who you are and who you can and WILL BE. See, who you are, is constantly changing. Especially in leadership. You must rise to meet the needs of your followers.
A flock with a shepherd who believes he’s lost is indeed lost.
Are you inspired? Do you believe? Want to make huge strides towards not just success and wealth but true leadership?
