Three Things You Should NeveR Buy

2 Sep

Three Things You Should Never Buy.

A horse as an investment.
Advice from someone who’s broke.
Leads when you can’t sell.

Short list. Not too much to think about. And yet an still it speaks volumes. Let’s work this thing out cohesively and as a group.

-A horse as an investment.
So not too applicable but bear wit me.
A lot of people get into a good thing and get some cash, a whole lot of cash. And the next thing you know they want to diversify.
So they get an IRA. Good stuff in most peoples opinions. Useful too if you know what you’re doing. So. Now the idea comes to you to invest in gold. So u buy some rare dubloons. Not bad, not good, I like silver personally, especially numismatics. Now you decide that a horse is a fine idea. Stately regal creatures that they are you figure it will be a center piece of your collection of wealth. And what’s better it will win races garnering you press, victories and maybe some winnings at the track! Awesome right?
WRONG.
Never invest in what you don’t have knowledge of. If you aren’t an equestrian already its probably a good idea to stick with what you know.
Never invest in something that is so costly.
A Horse needs lodging, food, a veterinarian, training, and so forth. Do you want to outlay these items costs on the hopes you will beat the equestrian world and their experience?
Sounds nutty right? Exactly. You fight the wars you can win. This is one you skip though my friends. Simply invest in what you know.

-Advice from someone who’s broke.
This is a huge downfall for many people. When you take stock tips from the guy who works for a wage in a small cubicle- 99% of the time he is wrong. Now he may be a new broker but most times he’s your friend in the cubicle next to yours. What does this mean? Simple. Its a sign your a fiduciary fool. No offense folks but when you take cheap or free advice from someone who doesn’t make a living from the advice he or she gives loss is imminent. Move on. I don’t take tax advice from my doctor. I may listen and ask questions, but I pay my CPA to ‘school’ me on this subject. I didn’t invest my extra money into stocks prior to 2008 as I didn’t think my coworkers and payroll secretary were smarter than I am. And I didn’t take the loss as a result.
I admit this was half luck. Okay 80% but I didn’t follow suit. I listened to that nag in my head- the one I call intuition. So my friends ignore the fools, skeptics, and friends. Everyone means well but your fiduciary health is your fault and your gain or loss. Aka- Guard your $$$$$!

-Leads when you can’t sell.
Sorry folks but this is a hard core fact akin to working out but not eating right. You get nowhere.
Now we have all been online and seen the cold call killers who can make you better than them. And the no close, no call, no contact closing gurus. Or the lead generator networks that promise you will make money and close people on autopilot. And at that it will be a robot piloting the autopilot. Amazing, easy, perfect!
NOPE!!!
Remember my article about Zeek Rewards?
Ever heard of Maddoff? Ponzi sound familiar? Now some people will make you better. And some companies will hone your skills until you are an amazing closer. And they may show you how to get leads. Now that works. But leads from nowhere are bogus. Also why would you want vague, unknown leads? Or why buy leads that you didn’t cultivate. You build a better team when you actually know your team. Leads aren’t numbers- they are PEOPLE. Treat them as such.
Another point, why would you want leads that are conceivably low quality? I want people that won’t join too easy. I want leads who WANT to join my team not a rich quick scheme. I need a strong team. A cohesive group of people who see value in me and want to commit to sharpening each other. Growth with a team is valuable. Cheap high turn over leads and opt-ins are worthless. Don’t buy leads, build teams.

*Last tip- NEVER tell yourself it’s too expensive. When you impose limits on your abilities or finances you have effectively crippled yourself. The mind and the heart when fed right will exceed your needs and expectations. You have to manifest your dreams by literally telling yourself what will be the outcome.
This isn’t a license to go bat crazy but you never want to limit your mind or heart. Aim beyond your goal but be mindful of all your actions. That dream car is 50 grand- build an empire and then reward yourself. Let the 1970 GTO be a goal, same for the Lambo.
Dream big, live big, work hard.

They Don’t Convert!

21 Aug

They Don’t Convert!

So a lot of my readers are in networking marketing it would seem from the feedback I receive. And there are a few repetitious themes. The big ones are leads and conversions. Now we’ve spoke on this before but a mentor spoke some simple wisdom into my ear and I refuse not to share it.

If you’re a network marketer you already know that new leads, new recruits and consistent conversions are the only way your business will grow. Even if you’re a human dynamo without a great and expansive team behind you struggle will be your middle name. I have two or three mentors and all of them build well. I say two or three because one of these fine fellows isn’t a direct mentor but his methodologies and the courses I’ve bought of his qualify him as such. I even has a pseudo mentor. And he was only concerned with numbers. See the issue my friends? My mentors build teams. It isn’t to sign you fast and ‘on to the nex one’ as Jay-z put it. Its sign you up, teach you, train you, drill- repeat. This in turn builds a legacy. Not just money but a team that is long standing, appreciative, humble, and whole. And that is success.

The other guy is bouncing from business to business he always has a quick idea and a new biz for me to join. The problem here is that I can’t depend on him. He says he’s there but when people don’t stick he doesn’t either. He’s had five, yes 5 businesses in two years. And two jobs. Now that is hustle. And its also divide focus. Its also a sign that he goes after dollars so fast he doesn’t care about the people. And he was in Zeek big time. Not putting down Zeek but I have needs, we all do. Leaders need training too. My first mentor is in a business I left. And he still mentors me! This man is great. He’s accomplished, learned, and cool. If not for his product I’d have stayed. He is more than his leads. He is a leader.

Now as for the next issue:
-Everyone wants leads.
And as we have said before your network won’t grow or your business without them. Now you can do Solo ads, youtube, blogs et al. But you have to have a system in place. And you have to offer more than pipe dreams. Most people have been approached by someone who does mlm or network marketing or even just a different insurance carrier. Yet few are approached by leaders and innovators. Are you one or the other? Are you both? If not aim to be. You lead by doing and by caring. That’s it. Innovation; hey you don’t have to invent the wheel as the saying goes- just see the methods and tools for what they are. FASTER. People are creating tools and concepts and scripts at a rate that baffles the mind. The only question left is if you will chase these down and spend the money. Sorry folks but it takes money to make money. Get it done folks.

Lastly:
-Everyone is worried about conversions.
First don’t be. Not everyone converts. That’s a FACT. And the less you care the better you do. Not to say you should be blazay towards your business or life- yet there is a fine line between care and being fanatical. A no isn’t the end of the world. Ask every married guy. We all heard a NO a few times. Every guy in fact has asked a girl out and gotten rejected. No biggie the girls out number us guys. And in life and business its the same. Accept the no. Heck, let them be your motivation to exceed.
Second why are you chasing conversions?
You know what the real meat of this article is? Simple: they aren’t converting- FIND NEW PEOPLE. What do you think every business in the world does. Coke and Pepsi don’t cry at losses in the profit margin. They create diversified income streams that lead to larger profits and less risk.
So in turn, you- WE must do the same.
When people don’t convert don’t brow beat them. Move On. Either you failed or they don’t want in. Not a problem. The solution is two fold:
You sharpen your game.
You get new leads.
And ill only speak on the second part as you should be doing the first one daily. Instead of ostracizing your leads and or friends and family and warm and cold markets- you get more leads. That’s it.
You recruit every where you go.
You ask people you are afraid to.
You buy the leads if you have to.
It doesn’t matter how but you GET MORE LEADS. You share your knowledge, your passion, and your vision and you will win

So next time you are gum- get more leads. Find New People.

Fear is Useful

30 Jul

Fear is useful.
(When you know what to fear.)

Remember the Boogeyman? And how he came every night whether you saw him or not? Or Freddy Kruger and Jason? These guys scared the bejesus out of me when I was real young, and many of you too I bet.
See fear is a natural occurrence. We need it. Some people say they are fearless I say that’s foolish. Fear can ruin your life or build your drive to succeed and its simply a matter of whether you master it or not.

-What is fear?
Fear is a response to external and or internal factors and actions. Most of us are afraid of pain. And pain is simply your body warning you to certain permutations and facts. As a recipient of a few broken bones and surgeries I know first hand that at times fear can paralyze you. However if you seek the calm point in you it is an ally. Fear is basically your response to things. Nothing else. However fear can cripple and incapacitate or build and renew.

-Know what to fear.
So we touched on fear being useful. Fear is useful, it is the beginning of wisdom says the Bible in the book of Proverbs and there is truth to that. Being afraid to die can give you a certain center that will enable you to not make ignorant choices. However you have to know what to fear. Fearing red ants is pointless. Fearing success is as well but many people are too afraid to take the steps that lead to pure, unbridled success. If you are afraid of meeting new people, building connections, and or closing sales- don’t quit your day job. Being your own boss comes with a huge magnanimous serving of failure. However when you fear failure you don’t SUCCEED. The key here is to fear not reaching your potential.
You should fear not rising to your potential. You should fear not giving back because you didn’t meet your level. We all have the ability to rise. And while we won’t all be olympic medals we are all entitled to and I dare say required to be our best.
What do you fear?
Why do you fear it?
Conquer your basic fears and move forward.
Can you imagine still being afraid of the dark? You’d get nowhere.
Afraid of the dentist?- I bet you go though because the potential downside is horrendous. And if you avoid the dentist now he will see you more later- CONQUER!

-Harness the power of fear.
In life I’ve been scared of roller coasters, heights, girls, and success. And I had to harness that fear to beat these things that scared me. For rollercoasters I simply let my brother in law shame me until we got on every ride in the park! And after I yelled like a little girl I learned that I actually liked rollercoasters. For heights I beat that by accident. I had to climb a rope ladder repaeatedly when a wild animal almost attacked. While I dislike heights now I won’t lose due to fear. As for girls when we were younger one of my closest friends and I made a deal that we would take turns talking to every pretty girl we saw on our troop home. And it worked! We not only beat the fear but conquered it and realized how easy it was. And for the younger fans and readers- the girls are just as nervous.
When it comes to success I simply force myself to do it. I won’t be in a j-o-b forever. And I make a point to tell people my goals. Not to brag but to hold myself accountable. That way if I say two days it has to be less- otherwise I hear the junk and look inefficient. And I refuse to be less than I am. Do you feel the same?
Conquer People!

Lessons from the movie Paid In Full.

27 Jul

Lessons from the movie Paid In Full.

So I’m in a waiting room after a back injury and was discussing the movie Paid in Full with a colleague and while its a ‘hood movie’, or a ‘drug movie’- I found some great points for any business person.
The protagonist whose moniker is Ace has an unusual way of doing business and leading. At least in comparison to his peers.

-Keep pricing down.
In any business if your clientele and partners can purchase at a lower cost your average goes up.
I was part of a business that required me to buy product monthly for consumption or to give away. Now the product was great- is great. Top notch. But the problem I had was that the costs were high and then they went up! And I couldn’t convince people to buy my product. Oh I had some sales and didn’t walk away bankrupt. But the costs were extreme. And you can easily say- Tony you failed there not them. And you might be right. However if the product was a better value for the dollar I think I would have believed in it more and my customers would have bought more and been more numerous. The lesson here is simple- if your product can’t be moved in your market at the desired price- lower it. Now you may not be able too, but if you can do it. Ever notice that Old Navy and Gap inc always have sales? Or how about Honda and Toyota? Both product types are in demand. Both offer quality products. However sale pricing closes the deal. In a psych-sales/marketing class the teacher spoke on how the $19.99 pricing of a unit could lead to a 30% profit margin over the similarly priced $20.00 unit. You see, the sale price is akin to a fish hook covered in tasty bait. That one penny difference not only lures them in but seals the deal.
In the Movie ACE sold a higher quality. product and at a cheaper price. This enabled him to move product faster and satisfy his consumer base. He also benefited by having his money in hand faster and being able to buy more product faster. Also the faster you can profit the more you can minimize your risks and increase value to clients.

-More importantly keep cost down.
Now if your product is cheaper than your competitors your advantage is astronomical. And when marketed it right sales will grow exponentially. In the movie ACE purchased a higher quantity of “merchandise” at a time which enabled him to make a larger profit easier. What’s even more amazing was that since he was in essence buying wholesale he could lower his price and still make a killing. Remember profits are made wen you buy not when you sell. That applies to buying homes, flipping homes and cars and even signing contracts. Ill let you figure how the last one applies ;).
—-

-Share the wealth.
Profit sharing can have enormous implications when related to sales, profit, loyalty and growth. Now you can keep 80% of your profits and see what happens. After costs you might have 2% left to pay employees and partners. And I don’t know about you but I won’t bust my hump for peanuts- especially for your dream and not mine. See that’s a normal human reaction. Even if I give you a 110%, eventually someone else will see my caliber and snatch me up. This is avoided by either profit sharing and or paying an exceptional wage. People who are paid what they are worth or more will give more. In the movie ACE worked this out by not cutting out his competition. He made it possible for everyone to ‘eat.’. Every individual who wanted in was in. Everyone looking to cash in- DID. Your team will work. But pay them like family and you all win. Disagree? Email me.

-Share the power.
ACE shared power with friends and confidants. He didn’t rule Nazi wild style. People were given rolls and responsibilities. While ACE was top dog he had enough people whom he had given a stake too that these people kept the cogs in the machines rolling. Look at our government in the USA- there are three branches to create a balance where power is concerned. In your own business you need partners. And with these partners you may keep a majority share but when their voices don’t count they won’t care. Also in sharing power you relinquish some power but also remove a burden; a yolk is lifted from your neck. Share people. It will improve ALL results.

-Reward friends.
In business many people reach out to and or work with friends before anyone else. Now this is ideal- providing you do it right. Your friends don’t want to be slaves or butlers. They want a say, and some equality. Now here’s the tricky part- KNOW YOU. If you don’t you fail. You have to know if you can share. You have to know if you even want too. However friends deserve to be rewarded. The people who stick with you and help you build an empire must reap the rewards. Giving them this form of loyalty rewards you with theirs. And when the friends are rewarded they work harder.
In the movie ACE had a true friend in Mitch who was a hustler when ACE walked the straight and narrow. And when the tables turned and ACE was the boss he rewarded Mitch richly. Which gave him not just loyal workers but a friend for life. Now it wasn’t the materialism side that fed and freed people for ACE- it was the simple act of giving. When you reward those who are with you, everyone wins.

-Overall this movie was a ‘hood classic.’. However what people are missing is that the protagonist was able to use real business principles to succeed. He also quelled violence, saved lives and rewarded Rico the friend of Mitch. Now that dog bit the hand that fed him you might argue, but he was rewarding Rico’ loyalty to Mitch.

Mondays!!!!

3 Jul

So this didn’t post because the attached media is unrecognized-but the theme is the loathing people have of Mondays- However perception still trumps all.

You see I like Mondays. I like getting into the groove at work. Perception and mindset can dictate success or failure so its important we start the day on the right page. If you think Monday dictates torture you will awake to that feeling.
You will have a persistent fear of a day that is guaranteed similar if not easier than the four that will follow it.
My opinion is you have five days to be excellent- So why let any ONE day be less than a stellar example of the greatness that lies within you…

Mondays are the beginning of a new week so if you hate your job, no biggie. You owe it to yourself to excel at it anyway. The way I see it is anything you do should get 110% no matter what. Why? Why would you give less than your best? And I know you aren’t supposed to answer a question with a question but it seemed perfect in this situation. (Apologies to the literary geniuses. ). You see I find no value in doing less than I can. Everyday I’m excited to simply exist. And yet I still aim to thrive not simply survive-(get the hint?). In life your only competition is you so aim for the gold.

Another reason to give 110% is people are watching. Always. People are curious to see how you do. Especially if you have pitched them a venture or product. Your vitamin biz gives you pep, but you slack?!- fail.
Your new venture gives you financial freedom but you sag in your office chair looking distressed and over-drafting simultaneously- fail.
These aren’t the marks of success.
People won’t perceive the winner within if you hide him behind Mediocrity.
Did you catch that? Its crucial folks.
We all have greatness in us. Its an innate characteristic. But you have to cultivate it and or simply let it loose. Arnold Schwarzenegger had to fight to be Mr Olympia and do so repeatedly. And we know how his life has turned out right?
Napoleon had to cultivate his courage. And we see his chain of victories.
What they did and what we all must do is cast mediocrity and fear aside and be the best. When we do all the people waiting on the sidelines will not just consider joining but will come in droves and bring teams upon teams. People want to be inspired. They want to be led.
So don’t let a case of the ‘Mondays way lay you on the road to victory. Be the leader you were born to be. Give it your all. You won’t fail. I guarantee that. However, if you did- don’t you want to go down swinging?
