Prioritize Your Mind

12 Sep

Prioritize Your Mind.

I don’t care what you do or how you do it. If you don’t prioritize your mind you have wasted your efforts. A clear concise plan and a cool head will triumph in most if not all situations.

-Tasks.
Everyday we all have tasks that have to be completed. And any action or decision or plan can be broken down into pieces. If you need a cake- you get ingredients. Then you mix them. Then you cook them. Cake is then frosted and eventually served and shared. I know, so easy a cave man….
However a lot of people don’t differentiate the process as multiple steps, aka tasks. Whatever you have to do, break it down into a concise list of steps.

Opening a business? Same thing. You get funding, you incorporate, you advertise. Get the drift.

-Priorities.
Now you know to get tasks done and to break anything down so a complex task becomes minimized into concise motions that create momentum. What a lot of people forget is that the same 4 steps, done out of order- create drag. Aka, you lose momentum and become the very enemy that you worked to defeat. And while this isn’t war, your life, your work are just as real. Just as serious. If you don’t fight for your success and to solidify your dreams as triumphs you are nothing. Sorry. It’s raw, its real.

The difference.
Tasks have to be done. And they have to be PRIORITIZED. In opening a business I say inc/llc first. Why? Create your corporate entity first so every action after generates action or tax breaks. Also being legit not only looks good but sets a framework. Then get a business plan and then funding. After these steps you seek clients and or advertising to compliment your prior actions. See how actions aka tasks, when prioritized create power, momentum, and legitimize you? This is how business people act. A good idea implemented wrong will ruin you or at the least delay your greatness from materializing. And sorry folks but we aren’t meant to be anything but great so don’t marginalize yourself.

-Know your goal.
Body builder vs power-lifter.
A favorite theme of mine as most if not all my readers know. I love to lift weights. However I went about it wrong. I initially wanted to get to big numbers. I wanted to be the strongest body builder- WRONG.
I realized what I wanted was great strength but in a body builders physique. A power-lifter isn’t concerned with his physique. He just crushes the weights. He lifts and lifts and lifts until he supersedes himself. What I wanted was a large mass of muscle that was well sculpted and usable. See Arnold Schwarzenegger or Jay Cutler.
While both are massively strong, the aesthetics were the key to making their dreams come true.
So know your goal.
Know what it means.
Know what it requires and what it becomes.
At that point you will find freedom and success.

Job, Career, Your Own Business- You Decide.

11 Sep

Job,
Career,
Your Own Business-
You Decide.

I think the concept here eludes many people and I intend to divulge the facts! Lol okay I’m having fun but its real talk my friends. Let’s unpack this to see where we all fit.

-Job.
A job is what it sounds like- it’s just work. It might pay bills. It might be fun. Its not much else. A paper boy has a job. I had that job and it was great for a time. Cool, new and cash paid weekly. However it had no future, benefits and was not fun in the rain. Many adults live that reality and simply trudge back to it day after day. Really going to accept that?

-Career.
So u want more. You want a career. Nice. Smart choice. You have realized that there is more to working. Work is okay, and it may even get some good coin in your pocket.
Problem is what career?
What do you love?
What is your passion?
So you love that ’52 chevy your dad had. And you bought one and got it going pretty well. Paint is eh, but it runs like a dream. So you have your passion and you figure why not work for Unique Autosports. A lifetime restoring the things you love is time well spent.
Perhaps you love carpentry and you here the local 403 is hiring. Great benefits, overtime, retirement package that is guaranteed. This is really cool! You have 35 years to do what you love, get paid for it, and retire with mula, dinero, cash to boot!
Loving what you do rocks.

-Your Own Business.
Now for the heart of the matter.
So we know a job gets us coin.
A career may be more fulfilling.
And yet the best option is ahead.
In this humble mans opinion having my own business is a breath of fresh air. And while I’m not Warren Buffet or Ray Higdon I know I will be.
Having your own business puts you in the driver seat.
You make your hours.
You choose your clients.
You hire and fire staff instead of being staff. You can’t be fired from your business. You may put in no effort and lose at the game of life but that’s different.
But having your own business puts you in the driver seat.
And sorry folks but that is what built America.
Small business/large business owners, entrepreneurs breathe life into our economy. When you that is you, you rock!
Owning your own business also gives you awesome tax breaks. So that’s a super win. Make money and keep more of what you make.
Owning your own business will give you options you haven’t seen.
I also find it appealing to call my shots. I like my boss- he’s cool. However I want to take the risks, call the shots and reap greater rewards.
You can give back easier with your own business too. The pluses have added up huh?
Now I won’t kid you its a lot of work. And those who make it sacrificed. Yet wouldn’t you want to sacrifice to get ahead?
Furthermore, if you can create residual income you will be free. Let that business you love create income even when you don’t work. A carpenter can do it. A tech, a boss, a cook. And isn’t that the dream?
I like my job- its actually a good career too.
I want more though. I need to make it- on my terms. Its a strong desire I’ve had since 5 or 6 yrs old.

Feel the same?
Made a decision?
Need to step off the path?
Let’s talk.

Exclusive Interview #8. Spotlighting DJ XXXOTIC MAMI- CEO XTREME104FM- PIVOT RECORDS- HIP HOP TYMES

10 Sep

The eighth interview in a series highlighting up and coming entrepreneurs and leaders.
Today we interview DJ XXXOTIC MAMI- CEO XTREME104FM- PIVOT RECORDS- HIP HOP TYMES

And without further ado:

DJ XXXOTIC MAMI/CEO XTREME104FM- PIVOT RECORDS- HIP HOP TYMES

-Where you from?
I am from South Jamaica Queens originally.

-Age?
A woman never tells. (giggle) I will say this though my resume speaks for my experience and longevity in the game. I have worked with some of the best and learned a lot. Things that I share with my team and all those whom I have the fortune of doing business with today. I am forwarding thinking, and about my brand and business. I appreciate those who feel the same, and act on it.

-Tell my readers exactly what you do-
Businesses you own, ventures, products, etc.
I am CEO/ C.O.O of Xtreme 104FM which is a nationally rated Internet Radio brand. We are the reigning UMA award winners for our broadcasting of the A&R Report, which I am the host of along with Dizzy Brown and SuperAgentDre. I also am the CEO of Pivot Music Group. In a nutshell I am a radio personality as well an industry executive, and figurehead. I have been blessed to make a lot of great connections and build not only my brand, but the brand of both PIVOT and XTREME104FM. We welcome everyone to check out our bimonthly publication HIP HOP TIMES which highlights industry news, and unsigned artists. Also we have Straightfromthebooth.com which is a community of like-minded creative individuals who support Hip Hop as a whole, and each other. Our motto is we make unsigned artist mainstream. Through our marketing strategies, promotional initiatives, and widespread reach via Social Media as well as grass roots approaches as well.

-How did you get the entrepreneurial bug?
I’ve always had the entrepreneurial bug, anyone that knows me knows that I think business at all times. I started out laying the groundwork like anyone else and paid my dues, but I always had my eyes on ownership; it just took time. Where me and my team are at now is a blessing, but by no means are we content, its always about the next level. Heightening our brand awareness, and capability.

-How did you get in the game/current foray?
I am a DJ hence the name DJ XXXOTIC MAMI. I started by carrying DJ crates for DJ Clue and Desert Storm when he started at Amazura in Queens NY, not laptops but milk carton crates of vinyl records. I have played/hosted/frequented every venue you can name in the tri-state area, and beyond. I was doing internet radio before actually heading a station. While working for others I always knew I had what it took, but I also know that the blueprint is best built on simmer, so I took my time, learned the business and when the lane opened up I took advantage of the opportunity that presented itself. I have surrounded myself with great people who work hard and we support each other, making sure that the #XTREMETEAM is and will remain a household name.

-What made you embrace your position?
My ambitions made me embrace it. It order to have anything in this world, you have to earn it. I work hard and I relish the rewards, but I always think bigger! The respect I get industry wise, and outside of makes it all worth it. Seeing the dreams of my team come true is rewarding as well.

-What keeps you in your position?
Hard work, Dedication, and most of all knowing my worth as well as the game. HIP HOP is evolutionary, meaning that it changes and to stay relevant you have to change with it. I keep my eyes and ears to the street and mainstream. I am not called the “Queen of the Underground” for no reason (laughs). We work hard on this side, and we appreciate being respected for it. There is not an aspect of my brand that I neglect, I am very hands on and that’s what keeps me where I am at.

-What are your secrets to success?
There aren’t no secrets, opportunity is a universal thing; its on the individual to make the most of it.  I always tell people if you work hard things will happen. The only place Success comes before Work is in the dictionary!!!

-What don’t you like in the game?
People who overestimate their value and do not understand that you have to earn your keep in this game. On top of that, most importantly, know the business.

-What do you like in the game?
EVERYTHING ELSE! I love Hip Hop. I have loved it since I was a child. The art, the business, the opportunities. Couldn’t knock it if I tried.

-What would you change in the game?
I would change some of the people, but I’m not gonna say no names. My publicist told me to behave.

-If I gave you a milli what or whom would
you invest in?
#XTREMETEAM. Most importantly our community services division headed by Kwame Davis. YOu can visit Pmggivesback to check out our community service initiatives. We are about more than the music, we are about the culture, the people. Our people!  I would invest more into outlets that provide opportunities and uplifting.

-What sets you apart from the game?
Nothing. I AM HIP HOP. I am apart of it, I love it, I live for it. On an individually level, I am cocky so I would tell that there is no one like me, but still and all we are ALL APART OF and CONTRIBUTORS TO HIP HOP as a whole.

-What are your thoughts on 360 deals?
This is where the executive in me comes in. I think that they have their place, but people must do their homework. Not all deals with be customized for one end or the other, its on the individual to make sure their paperwork is right for their situation.

-What made you love hip hop?
The lyrics, I loved the articulation and creativity of my favorite artists. They said some of the things that I was thinking; some of the things that people in my neighborhood were thinking, and the game gave them a chance to be heard by the masses. That’s powerful.

-Who is your fav rapper/lyricist?
Missy Elliott, T.I. and Eric B and Rakim.

-Best person to ever play your position?
You would have to say some of the greats like Russell, L.A. Reid, Kevin Liles, Chris Lighty (RIP), Shakie Steward (RIP), and Jay Z’s of the world to name a few. Executives who had an impact on the game of HIP HOP and its progression

-Best rapper alive?
A lot of you haven’t heard him/her yet. But don’t fret, they will be coming out of the Pivot Music Group camp really soon.

-Advice for my readers?
Check out the Xtreme Team, we are really working hard to give you quality music. We broadcast 7 days a week, we have a tremendous line up. You can check us out : http://www.xtreme104FM.com and on Tune-IN

-Your definition of success?
Respect from your peers, and Numbers, because they don’t lie. WE all know that. Anything that I speak of I can back it up with the numbers. That’s where society is at now, love it or hate it. Its about the numbers, your reach, and your standing.

-Any projects you’d like to promo?
Yeah DJ XXXotic Mami and Xtreme104FM as a house hold name!!!!!

What Free is Costing You

9 Sep

What Free is Costing You.

A lot of people want freebies. If it aint free they aren’t interested. Double negative, I know. However when you show people the gains they would achieve, or the free time they will have- it is mocked or insulted.
My friends I’m going to dispel these myths.

-Free trainer.
Sorry folks the guy trying to train people for free is a pervert. He wants to touch people. Its funny to imagine the SNL skits this evokes- but its real. You get what you pay for. The guy who has needs fulfills needs. Remember that.

-Free School.
Sorry but I went to private school and it was awesome! Smaller classes. Teachers cared more and there was no real violence. I am in education but as an inner city kid turned educator, and a guy who went to both private school and a small college in Westchester I see the difference. Now we can’t all afford private school no problem. But I have friends a bit older than me and family as well who cry broke when it comes to their kids education and own 5 macs, and a bunch of LED tv’s. Or they have a Cadillac Escalade but won’t put the kiddies into a better educational environment. Sorry but its real.

-Free Products in an mlm and/or venture.
Sorry again my friends. Its just not sensible to expect to get a product for free. You bought the new Honda Accord? It wasn’t free. You get cable- It has never been free.
Why would you expect to get free products in a network marketing venture or any other? My brother sells medical supplies, and still pays for medical services. Fair right isn’t it? Exactly. A former teacher sells retirement plans- and this too seems to imply he will retire well. Wrong. He had to pay the same or more.
Nothing in life is free.
There is always a direct or associated cost.
Now as a network marketing or direct marketing veteran I know nothing is free. A current venture gives me the product free- but only when three people join and therein lies the key.
If I can’t find the three people who concur with me on what is worth my time, money,
And efforts I’m in the wrong place at the right time. Yup. That is said the way I mean it.

-Free training.
If you want to learn to be the boss you pay for it. The best teach the best- at a price. My mentor charges for his time. All of it. Now he has given me lots of freebie advice- however I have met him in the middle. I have bought his courses.
I have followed his growth.
I believe in his methods.
What you see right now is a direct result of our limited interactions. He has taught me a great deal. But I missed a lot not paying upfront. So I buckled down and bought the courses. I asked for his help and I paid the fees.
Lastly the lesson I learned was hard. I have a few free students I offered to train in an effort to build momentum. And it was a cool idea. And it kind of worked. The problem? One has made it and one isn’t doing the work. Now that could be luck of the draw.
I see something different. I read an article where the author stated that what is free isn’t highly esteemed. And she was right. People don’t value the free training. Same was a Bugatti is valued.
I valued my training at $25.00 an hour. And you know what? I found a few cool students at free and none at that price. I just found one today as write this article so I’m excited. Yet the learning curve is tremendous. More people have asked to learn and grow with me once the free period ended.
Get it folks?

“Earn and learn- the rest is worthless.”

Three Things You Should NeveR Buy

8 Sep

Three Things You Should Never Buy.

A horse as an investment.
Advice from someone who’s broke.
Leads when you can’t sell.

Short list. Not too much to think about. And yet an still it speaks volumes. Let’s work this thing out cohesively and as a group.

-A horse as an investment.
So not too applicable but bear wit me.
A lot of people get into a good thing and get some cash, a whole lot of cash. And the next thing you know they want to diversify.
So they get an IRA. Good stuff in most peoples opinions. Useful too if you know what you’re doing. So. Now the idea comes to you to invest in gold. So u buy some rare dubloons. Not bad, not good, I like silver personally, especially numismatics. Now you decide that a horse is a fine idea. Stately regal creatures that they are you figure it will be a center piece of your collection of wealth. And what’s better it will win races garnering you press, victories and maybe some winnings at the track! Awesome right?
WRONG.
Never invest in what you don’t have knowledge of. If you aren’t an equestrian already its probably a good idea to stick with what you know.
Never invest in something that is so costly.
A Horse needs lodging, food, a veterinarian, training, and so forth. Do you want to outlay these items costs on the hopes you will beat the equestrian world and their experience?
Sounds nutty right? Exactly. You fight the wars you can win. This is one you skip though my friends. Simply invest in what you know.

-Advice from someone who’s broke.
This is a huge downfall for many people. When you take stock tips from the guy who works for a wage in a small cubicle- 99% of the time he is wrong. Now he may be a new broker but most times he’s your friend in the cubicle next to yours. What does this mean? Simple. Its a sign your a fiduciary fool. No offense folks but when you take cheap or free advice from someone who doesn’t make a living from the advice he or she gives loss is imminent. Move on. I don’t take tax advice from my doctor. I may listen and ask questions, but I pay my CPA to ‘school’ me on this subject. I didn’t invest my extra money into stocks prior to 2008 as I didn’t think my coworkers and payroll secretary were smarter than I am. And I didn’t take the loss as a result.
I admit this was half luck. Okay 80% but I didn’t follow suit. I listened to that nag in my head- the one I call intuition. So my friends ignore the fools, skeptics, and friends. Everyone means well but your fiduciary health is your fault and your gain or loss. Aka- Guard your $$$$$!

-Leads when you can’t sell.
Sorry folks but this is a hard core fact akin to working out but not eating right. You get nowhere.
Now we have all been online and seen the cold call killers who can make you better than them. And the no close, no call, no contact closing gurus. Or the lead generator networks that promise you will make money and close people on autopilot. And at that it will be a robot piloting the autopilot. Amazing, easy, perfect!
NOPE!!!
Remember my article about Zeek Rewards?
Ever heard of Maddoff? Ponzi sound familiar? Now some people will make you better. And some companies will hone your skills until you are an amazing closer. And they may show you how to get leads. Now that works. But leads from nowhere are bogus. Also why would you want vague, unknown leads? Or why buy leads that you didn’t cultivate. You build a better team when you actually know your team. Leads aren’t numbers- they are PEOPLE. Treat them as such.
Another point, why would you want leads that are conceivably low quality? I want people that won’t join too easy. I want leads who WANT to join my team not a rich quick scheme. I need a strong team. A cohesive group of people who see value in me and want to commit to sharpening each other. Growth with a team is valuable. Cheap high turn over leads and opt-ins are worthless. Don’t buy leads, build teams.

*Last tip- NEVER tell yourself it’s too expensive. When you impose limits on your abilities or finances you have effectively crippled yourself. The mind and the heart when fed right will exceed your needs and expectations. You have to manifest your dreams by literally telling yourself what will be the outcome.
This isn’t a license to go bat crazy but you never want to limit your mind or heart. Aim beyond your goal but be mindful of all your actions. That dream car is 50 grand- build an empire and then reward yourself. Let the 1970 GTO be a goal, same for the Lambo.
Dream big, live big, work hard.

Exclusive Interview #7. Spotlighting Don Jones, founder of Phoenix Fitness Group.

1 Sep

The seventh interview in a series highlighting up and coming entrepreneurs and leaders.
Today we interview Don Jones, founder of Phoenix Fitness Group

And without further ado:

-Where you from?
I am New Jersey born and raised. I grew up in Somerdale in Camden County. Currently I reside in Hackensack, Bergen County

-Age?
38.

-What is your title(s)?
I am the founder of Phoenix Fitness Group as well as a Program Supervisor at the International Youth Organization in Newark, NJ where I supervise healthy living and environmental programming.

-What certification(s) do you hold?
I have a bachelor’s degree in Sociology with an abundance of experience in behavioral management. The personal training certifications I hold are from AAAI/ISMA and NCSF (national council on strength and fitness). I am also a Level 1 coach certified by USA track & field.

-How did you get into training people professionally?
I have been into sports and fitness since a youth, and competed in track & field as a high schooler, at Sterling HS in Somerdale, and as a collegian, first at FDU and finally at Montclair State, where I accumulated many championships and was an NCAA qualifier. Later, I became an assistant track coach at New Jersey Institute of Technology when I decided to purse a certification in personal training to increase my profile as a coach.

-How long have you been a trainer?
I have been a personal trainer and coach for about 5 years now .

-What made you embrace your position?
When I first got the opportunity to share my knowledge of fitness and track & field with novice athletes, I knew that coaching and fitness training was my path. I embrace to opportunity to teach and guide a person to achieving their personal and fitness goals. To see someone have a breakthrough or achieve a feat they have never accomplished, it is nice to know that I had a part in it. It makes me work harder to achieve my goals and continue to share knowledge and insight.

-What keeps you in your position?
Love of sports, athletics, and fitness is what keeps me doing this. There is always an opportunity to learn a new technique or exercise, and always a new experience to be had. There are still millions of people out there that need to hear my message of positive energy and spirit in order to live healthy and abundant.

-What are your secrets to success?
If I told you, it wouldn’t be a secret. But honestly, success is not a secret. Success can be achieved by anyone that sets clear, concise, and attainable goals. I always look forward; I can’t dwell on something for too long, even if it is a victory, because the next opportunity for success may pass me by.

-What sets you apart from the game?
I don’t feel that I am a typical trainer. I encourage my clients to set goals based on the life they lead in order to achieve the life they envision. There have been times when I’ve conducted a training session that didn’t involve physical exercises. Occasionally, clients come to training sessions with a lot on their mind and we take the time to sort out life, so they can get back to living and being able to maintain a healthy balance between their physical and mental.

-What do you love about training?
Everything; the accomplishment, the failure, the sacrifice. Spectators see the  athletes celebrate victory on the field; athletes know that victories begin with your training.

-Hate about it?
Excuses. Nothing bothers me more than procrastination when it comes to fitness and living healthy. You can ‘t put off being healthy until tomorrow; if you are not living healthy today, there may be no tomorrow.

-What are ppl doing wrong in the gym?
Getting to the gym in the first place is a major “right” for most people, but once you get there, sometimes it is a different story. I guess what I hate to see most is people not using complete range of motion throughout an exercise. For example, it doesn’t matter if you are bench pressing 300 lbs if you only move the bar 3 and half inches. Folks need to understand the systems in the body and how they work in order to get the most out of exercises. If not, you are selling yourself short.

-Do exercisers really lose more weight than calories cutters by 84% ?
Well that depends on who you ask. If a person exercises and manages calorie consumption, they are more likely to achieve their goals quickly and thoroughly, and maintain their desired weight. If a person just depends on one or the other, results are very dependant on physiology. You need calories in order to exercise, because that helps to produce the energy needed to move.

-Thoughts on no carb, south beach diets and atkins?
They are not things that I would suggest. There are huge differences in “going on a diet” and having a healthy diet. When you “go on a diet”, you eventually come off that diet, then all of your issues return. When you have a healthy diet and combine that with a workout regiment you are bound to get results that are healthier and longer lasting. (as in lifetime)

-Favorite exercise?
I’m a track guy so I love running drills and core exercises. I am also a fan of plyometric exercises (jumping and bounding for power and strength)

-Where can people find you at on the web and in person?
I can be reached by email at DJFITPRO@gmail.com
and at

-Advice for my readers?
The longest journey begins with a single step. You must take that step. Do not be intimidated or afraid. Your body is a temple; maintain it as such. There is no reason to wait to make your life healthier and longer.

-Your definition of success?
Success is whatever you put your mental and physical powers to regardless if your goal is achieved in the manner that you envisioned it. It is what you are willing to sacrifice to achieve those goals and how you treat people on your way up.

-Any projects you’d like to promo?
On September 22, in association with Vida Wellness, Phoenix Fitness Group presents How Sweet Is It Really? A discussion on sweeteners, snacking, & empty calories and a fat burning fitness demonstration.

The event will take place at Vida Wellness 247 Crooks Ave, Clifton, NJ. We will have an educating discussion on the nutritive and non-nutritive sweeteners used in the foods that you eat daily, find alternatives to sweet snacks, and learn how to get the most out of your calorie consumption. After learning the basics on sweeteners and good snacking habits, join in on a fitness demonstration that will get you burning calories and fat as well as teach you exercises and stretches you can do at work, school, and on the go.

Get where you have to, Get There Now!

31 Aug

Get Where You have to, Get There NOW.

Sorry folks tonight is going to be abbreviated. Life moves fast and I won’t waste time tonight either. Let’s get to the main course asap. A good steak doesn’t take days and neither will I.

-Tomorrow waits for no one.
Sorry my friends but action is life. When you wait for an opportunity you lose. The opportunities are there- FIND THEM. You have to be vocal, you have to be on the prowl. If not you lose. Jordan, #23- he made his window work. Will you?

-Momentum.
When you have it you’re winning. When you don’t- GET IT. Momentum will literally carry you from venture to venture. Link small and large positive movements together until you have a solid six or five figure income. Why list sixth before fifth?
Because why aim for $10,000?
Go for $100,001. That’s a key number. Don’t meet your expectations- SMASH THEM!
Momentum is a strategic advantage-use it.

-Fear.
Fear will cripple you.
Let me repeat that- Fear will cripple you.
A lot of times life gives us a window. And the only task required is to take action. The problem is people are so scared to win they lose. And guess what- I’m equally guilty. Let’s get to the top together. I used to let fear kill me. Forget crippling- it was murderous. Now I use fear to motivate me. It makes me smarter, faster, stronger.
Fear can make u weak or strong- it is simply a choice. What will you choose?
