Super Tip For Frequent Bloggers

24 Feb

Include a lot of links in your blog posts?

Don’t want to waste characters and space?
Always better to say less right?

Concise is what they call that and I’ve got a great way to help you do that.

If you blog a lot from your smartphone then here is the fast way to shrink links without adding an app to do this.
I use my ubersocial app to shrink every link I have.
Why?
Simply put its fast, easy, and correct.
I go to my blackberry drop down menu, click uber tweet and paste the link. After that I scroll down to shrink url and viola it is done. After that I copy it and paste it where applicable.
Another nifty benefit of this is that I can write a tweet then and there that is perfectly tailored and I’m not wasting any effort.

One last trick: Hyperlinks in ms word.
Copy a pic and paste it in microsoft word and then right click on the image.
Scroll down to edit hyperlink and from there put the links you want that pic to direct to.
Simple. Direct. Factual.

Get at me with your thoughts.

BELIEF MOVES MOUNTAINS

BELIEF MOVES MOUNTAINS.

499 Words (AKA 500 Words To Get Google Approval OF Your Your Blog?)

19 Feb

Google likes 500 Words.
Google weights your blog posts greater when they are 500 or more words.
Google likes 2 pages times new roman double spaced.
Okay maybe the last one is bullsh*t but you see I remember writing those small papers and they were always 2 pages times new roman double spaced.
No Courier New font, no size 13 font et al.
Laugh if you will but college was cagey fun.
And those little papers that I hated became a chore after I realized it was harder to cap myself at 500 and not just let my pen flourish, well keyboard actually.
But over time it was true. I was always a writer, but college papers and procrastination made me a great writer.
And I can hear the people calling me names. And it may be true if you don’t see what I mean.
My point is that I made myself the best writer I could be. It doesn’t mean I’m amongst the elite. Quite the opposite.

Now onto Google.
Google likes blog posts of a certain length.
500+ words sets a trend. It makes things better so they say. It adds validity. Credibility. Shows your serious perhaps.
And to an extent I can agree.
Anyone can type 50 words. Heck twitter is 100 plus characters and people go nuts.
Add a hash tag (#) and you may be the trending top of the week (aka #tt).
Is length really an indicator of greatness though?
Does length equal greatness?
Maybe in an Extenze commercial. But in the writers world I’d wager it doesn’t. And if you’ve seen some of the books that sell to the high heavens on Amazon’s Kindle you know that a 100 page book, sometimes less, can sell a few hundred thousand copies with ease.
Victory, sales, whatever you want to call it, whatever you need- won’t always be found in meeting Google’s quota.

Quality.
Quality isn’t found only in specific quantities or large sets of words. Not that 500 is a lot of words per say, but you get the point. Many soliloquies are not long. Haiku’s- well, you get the point. Quality is found in many forms and so it goes with blogging.
Not every blog post need be long.
Lately I’ve used infographics on two of my blogs as I see the pure potential and potency in letting images speak for themselves.
I’ve also used a new format I dubbed the “quick tip”. I focus my mind and thoughts into a concise post or rant and simply post away. Not everyone wants to read my magnum opus (did I say that right?).
I’ve had great success with this format too.
I like it, they like it.
My blog wins, my readers win, Nice.

Free Webinars And Your Business

3 Feb

So I’ve had a few questions on this and figured I’d make a quick blog post about it.
Webinars do you really need them?
Survey says Yes.

Webinars for the uninitiated are basically live or prerecorded broadcasts (though generally speaking and for the purposes of this post live) that aim to teach something, conduct an open forum, recruit people or sell product. Many people love this tool simply because it creates the image of greater value instantaneously.
Now I’m not arguing that they aren’t more valuable, just the opposite. However we must make note of all pertinent factors and qualities. People generally feel more tied into a webinar then a three way call. They also like the live action feel and flow of a live webinar compared to a list of Youtube videos you shoot them in a email. Those work too but it isn’t quite the same.
Every webinar I’ve been on feels different. The ability to ask questions on the spot is one way I’ve always felt more connected to the webinar leader. And hence I was more connected and thus more inclined to buy or join- get the drift?
A good webinar can even be as simple as a slide show with your face in the left hand corner as you teach or “drop science.”. Intelligence can even be perused in a different fashion as the audience can better gauge who you are as a person. This appearance of intimacy that forges bonds is quite bankable. And I don’t mean to sound callous or ambivalent, rather I want people to know how useful this tool is. I’m not attempting to imply a contrived feeling will occur but it is possible.
If I’ve confused you let me say this-
People prefer webinars statistically.
And as times change so must our strategies. 3 way calls work. No question. But in the day and age of the internet it is time we adjust methods and recalculate our approach. Twitter and Facebook and now Pinterest have all show that a new dynamic in marketing and recruiting has taken our planet by storm. Plain old sharing has become a multi-billion dollar business.
Don’t you want a piece of all of that?
If you could easily reach fans, recruits, teammates and so on wouldn’t you want to?
And speaking of teammates isn’t it hard to build and network properly across your city let alone across the globe?
I know I have a hard time with it and I’m sure you do as well. The phone just doesn’t cut all the time and plain old web chat limits your audience to two cameras and who ever can huddle around them.
A great webinar need not belong. In the beginning aim for a 30 minute webinar with a 30 minute Q&A after. Let people speak so it takes the pressure off you and let’s you gauge their response toward you and what you have offered. And don’t forget to invite them to your next webinar and or event (and of curse get names and numbers if you don’t have them- though they have to login for some webinar services so you may be privy to this data already).

What service should you use?
Check out http://webex.com first.
Then maybe gotowebinar or a few others.
