CONTENT IS KING- OR IS IT…

27 Jan

CONTENT IS KING.

OR IS CONSISTENCY KING?

Not to long ago I was discussing this site’s statistics with my best friend. And I mentioned that I had a lot better results when I blog a lot. I mean daily. You see when you miss days the people who get the posts sent automatically- well they get nothing.
And new followers and fans- they get 100% of that same nothing.
Blogging is more than words.
It is ACTION.
Every time I blog I gain, I win. Not just from the perspective of building my business but of honing my craft. As I create more and more content I’ve noticed that my content gets better. It was pretty sweet as an epiphany. So I was on this high, thinking it was all good. I’d learned, I’d grown.
The lesson was simple: Content is King. Great content, and a lot of it was the crucial factor that was going to take me to the top. I had ideas concepts and a plan.

Fast forward a few minutes in our conversation (and in my mindset about 3 years lol) and my best friend shattered my illusion. How you ask? He simply said no, Consistency is King.
Ouch. Damn.
Yup folks he was right, I was wrong.
And it was earth shattering.
You see I’m big on not missing the obvious. I pride myself on being a thinker. And this time I out thought myself.

I was on the right track, wrong train. I live in New York City so trains are an integral part of my existence. I used them forever. Even now as an avid driver I use the train at times. It can be easier even if its not as cool. You see 42nd st is a hub. There are 10 or more trains meeting at this one destination. However if you hop on the 6 line and need the 2 line you are going to the wrong area. And this was my story.
I was focused on content- and a lot of it. And there in lies the answer to the riddle. Simply put I had the right idea- I was just reading it wrong.
Content is necessary. It is wanted.
But Consistency Is King.
It wasn’t my content, it wasn’t the quality. It was how frequently I posted said content and quality.

The true Linchpin is Consistency.
It always was and always will be in blogging. To blog is to do so freely and regularly.
And the statistics don’t lie.
When I’m consistent my traffic is as well.

Recently my wife was in the hospital so I blogged very little. I was fortunate to have some amazing new contact and a network. That pushes my content because they believe in its worth. That being said I’d have done even better if I was blogging more. So I’m writing tomorrow’s posts today. I’m working on being better than I can be.
A consistent work ethic will give me more than a great post.
It will give me consistent legitimacy.
It will make me better.
It will make my blog better.
And overall the discipline of blogging makes me a winner regardless of outcome.
#blogheavy.

Quick Lessons from Conan the Barbarian

7 Oct

Quick Lessons from Conan the Barbarian

So I’m watching Conan the Barbarian and my readers know I’m an Arnold fan. Forget his personal drama but his story of success is mezmorizing and useful as a point of reference.

-Practice.
Conan practiced his arts regularly. Once he became a slave fighter he increased his skill set. He mastered different arts and fighting skills as well as writing, reading, and philosophy. Though only a slave he embraced these lessons to be his best.
Arnold did this to win Mr. Olympia as well. Over, and over again.
Practice makes perfect folks. Always in all ways.

-Steadfast Dedication.
Practice works but you have to commit. Steadfast dedication means you eat sleep and breathe your goals and dreams. There is no life that doesn’t stem from this mindset. Every action you take derives from it. This is the hardest obstacle. Its not making a decision, its sticking to it.

-Exercise Regularly.
Conan worked out. He practiced his grappling, sword fighting, and exercised a whole hell of a lot. So did Arnold. Any good Guru or leader knows what a true entrepreneur knows- exercise will change the paradigm of your life. It helps you grow, keeps you healthy and foments a mind that builds. Your body is a temple and as such requires you put in great effort. Yet the reward is greater. What you get out is what you put in.
As an avid body builder I’ve seen how it helps, I’ve lived it. In fact some of my best writing occurs when I’m in the gym. That’s true inspiration.

-Lead, Don’t Follow.
Conan, like Arnold lead by doing. Following is ok if you are a follower. Yet if you yearn to lead or feel its’ call- then heed it. Some of us are meant to lead. And to not heed the call leads to your failure and others failure as well. Who are we if we are not what our nature calls us to be?
I feel the call to lead. Even when I gain nothing I lead. I’ve always felt the pang of leadership in that I stand up for the weak, I fight for the confused, and now I’m a union rep simply so my co-workers have a voice of reason to reach out to. Be who you are called to be.

-Don’t beg.
In one scene Conan discovers a man chained to the wall. The man asks for food, telling Conan he hasn’t eaten in days. When asked who says he will eat the man replies ‘Give me food for energy so I can die fighting the wolves like a man and not starving like a pauper.’
See the Difference?
In one simple choice of phrasing the man sparked Conan’s interest not his pity or derision. When we approach others we must have the proper context. Begging might gain you a few bucks but sparking their intellect, making them want to join you- therein lies the path to gain and success. Christopher Columbus also knew the art of asking. He didn’t beg. He commanded attention by his audacious requirements and extreme supply list. History tells us the rest.
Never beg for that which they will give or which you deserve.

-Be Good to Friends and the Less Fortunate.
My last point leads to this one. The man who didn’t beg became Conan’s savior. Conan had not only fed this man but freed him and made him an equal. Then when he was crucified this same man freed him. Now we are not prone to being crucified or even living in such dire straights in this modern era.
Yet the lesson is the same.
When we are a good friend and champion of those who are weak and need defending we are always rewarded. Now don’t do it for the reward. Do it because it is right. But in the least, you will see gain when you I’ve morally my friends.

10th Interview Spotlighting the Boss: MOOK MILLION$

24 Sep

Tenth Interview highlighting Entrepreneurs and Moguls who are ahead of the Curve!
Today we spent our time with MooK Millions.
-Where you from?
Harlem NYC

-Age?
Old Enough to Qualify Young Enough to Satisfy.

-Tell my readers exactly what you do-  Businesses you own, ventures, products, etc-
I am a Mogul. I am the CEO of S.H.I.N.E Enterprises which is comprised of S.H.I.N.E Entertainment, The S.H.I.N.E Collection (Clothing Line), & Shining Star Studded Ent (Promo Company). I am also Co-CEO of #FRMT (The Filthy Rich Money Team) I also write poetry, movie scripts, plays etc….and I coach basketball.

-How did you get the entrepreneurial bug?
It was innate for the most part. I watched my pops hustle as well. He used to own a store on the Grand Concourse in the BX, be a vendor in the streets with socks, t-shirts, etc, & he sold drugs. Ever since I was young, I had a passion for creativity and generating income. In middle school I used to purchase junk food from the store and sell it for more during class. Along with that I had a team of people who made designs on graph paper and we sold it during class.

-How did you get in the game/current foray?
I first started out as the VP of my boy Jaxz’s label Loose Canonz Ent. Eventually I felt it was time to be the captain of my own ship.

-What made you embrace your position?
I’ve always been a leader. I’m very creative and innovative, plus I don’t mind taking risks. I’m not afraid of failure because I am a student of life. I learn from all experiences therefore I’m built for my position. I can deal with being praised & ridiculed. But most of all I accept responsibility for my actions.

-What keeps you in your position?
My focus, ambitions, & my supporting cast. There are times when I want to take a break and even question things, but God usually has a way of keeping me grounded and focused with loving and supportive people and clear vision of purpose.

-What are your secrets to success?
My grandfather once told me “Find something you love to do and you will never work a day in your life.” I believe people have to find their niche, true passion, & nurture their talents. Success has to be defined by your own definition, not societies.

-What don’t you like in the game?
Well many of my fields are over saturated. Everyone wants to be a promoter these days and many events don’t capture the essence of partying. Same goes for music in which I manage artists, everyone wants to be a rapper, but not an artist. Authenticity has been traded in for copying. Too much swagga jacking and no originality. People are just doing things for money as opposed to finding their calling.

-What do you like in the game?
I love managing artists because I have a true passion for music. I don’t just hear it but I listen to it. All kinds, all artists. To be apart of something creative feels great! I love promoting because I know how to party. I learned from older people, first and foremost my grandmother who took me to an Eastern Star Dance at 12 yrs old. I love helping people get out of their everyday lives and enhance that moment in which they’re at my events. It feels good to make others smile and give them great memories. As far as my clothing line goes, I love fashion immensely. Many people of all ages compliment me on my style. So I figured I can bring my visions to life for others as well.

-What would you change in the game?
The politics and the Hollywood aspect of it. Promoters now feel like a hot event has to have exaggerated budgets and feature artists, actors/actresses, etc…Get back to real music in hip hop as opposed to cars, clothes, money, jewels, and women all day. And I would get rid of all the clothing lines that people started just cause it was the thing to do.

-If I gave you a milli what or whom would
you invest in?
Me and my businesses. After I flip that and give you your initial investment plus interest, I would invest in others like myself.

-What sets you apart from the game?
My originality. I’m not afraid to be me. I won’t compromise my character for anything. Plus I care for others and invest into my community and culture.

-What made you love hip hop?
The creativity of lyrics. It’s poetry in motion over melodic sounds. I just love it.

-Who is your fav rapper/lyricist?
The Notorious B.I.G

-Best person to ever play your position?
Me. But on a mainstream level I would say Diddy.

-Best rapper alive?
Jay-Z

-Advice for my readers?
Follow your dreams. Nurture your talents. Be compassionate and share your success. Overall #Live #Laugh & #Love. “Incremental production leads to Incredible progress.”

-Your definition of success?
Continued growth as a person and mogul. Impacting the world, my community, and culture. My businesses generating wealth and employing many people. My family being set for life.

-Any projects you’d like to promo?
Exotic Saturdays @Perks Uptown in Harlem on 123st & Manhattan Ave. Grown & Sexy Mature Crowd. Ladies Free before 12. Gents reduced. ***Oct 20 My Birthday Celebration @Perks Uptown
