The Importance of Branding

18 Apr

My article as seen in Moov Magazine: The Importance of Branding

Branding, what is that?

You mean Betty Crocker? Air Jordan? Bayer? Nike and Just do it?

YES, to all of the above.

Branding isn’t a buzzword, it is in many ways the lifeblood of your company/business/product.So what is branding? In a nutshell Branding is psychology and your product meeting the market head-on. You can have an amazing products but products have a short lifespan compared to your brand. Let’s take Nike for example they have had thousands upon thousands of shoes with thousands upon thousands of variants on said shoes- but the brand perseveres. When Kraft bought Cadbury for 19.5 billion did they buy recipes? Chocolate?Factories? The answer is a simple no.They bought the brand. Now more than ever your brand is vastly important. As we have entered the internet age your brand can now be seen globally, therefore it can speak for you without you even being there. The strongest Brands out now have a cultural movement not just a social media feel to them.If you look at Toms shoes or some of the new water companies they all have a mission, not just a product that you buy and feel good about. You are joining a movement. You are helping save lives, or transform the planet. In essence they have tapped into your inner being to get you to agree on value. After all, is this not how we price things out- we come to an agreement on the terms of 1 items value?Lastly besides giving your products a purpose Branding can give you differentiation. There are hundreds of cereal brands in the same aisle in every Supermarket across America. But the one that has the brand that speaks to you will take your dollars and your loyalty. And this my friends is what brading is all about. A key concept you buy into gladly and you follow blindly for years. Now that may sound negative to some but let me put it to you like this: Every car I have ever bought is a Honda. Why?Simple I buy into the brand as it is valuable and durable and my dollars worth. And I’ll bet you can find the same examples in your own life.Questions?Concerns?Comments?Feel free to message me at Tony@changeinadvance.com

I Will Win

8 Apr

I remember hearing this training after my mentor on put me on Les Brown in 2016. Yes I was way behind on my leadership and mindset learning back then.

Les was talking about his son and a game of Connect 4 where he said “we’re not done until I win”. That child’s mindset has taught me a lot, and to be honest I forgot it. But I’ve comeback with a vengeance and I will be victorious.

I Will Win.

Entrepreneurialmindset 101: What you watch occupies Your MIND

If you’re going to watch 12 hours of TV a week or more at least watch Shark Tank or the profit excetera excetera. Better to see someone doing business then to see someone shucking and jiving.

And yes I specialize in crappy videos 😉

Work Hard, Don’t Worry About Always Looking the Part

Work Hard, Don’t Worry About Always Looking the Part.

Sometimes I look ragged, and ppl ask.
The answer?

I’m being an active dad, a good spouse, I work full time at my job, I grow and develop ppl in and out of work, and am building my empire on the side.

The good news is my mind is always sharp,
I am always happy,
And I’m always willing to do more.

Dress for success may include appearance, but dont get down on yourself when you look washed up.

Sometimes the best victories come after you have been run up and down the court.

Knowing When To Rest

This is perhaps the most important factor in my success journey I learned in 2018.

Amazon Prime aka the bait and switch

24 Mar

So I had Amazon Prime, heck I’ve had it for years. And now I see that effective this month when I reset my year it’s going to be $20 more. I personally find this egregious.

As they keep adding cost I’m not really getting value. There is no reason for them to raise cost at this point except because they want to hammer me for the one or two parts of the Amazon Prime service I use.

Let’s talk about perceived value.

Amazon Prime get you the free shipping and the discounts and the special bundles and you can get some Kindle books and there’s some other discounts and then now there’s Whole Foods you get a discount and you can get Amazon Prime Store card which is through Synchrony Bank, Amazon itself blah blah blah. So here comes Jeff Bezos saying that they’ve added so much more value that it justifies a 20% increase in the cost of Amazon Prime. I call foul the play. I’d actually call b******* but I don’t want to curse on my own blog.

Even if I use every single option Amazon Prime offered me, literally everything- the photos, the video, the Prime video, the access to Old HBO shows, the Whole Foods, the free delivery, the pantry, Amazon is getting money from me every month excetera excetera I still don’t see any value in adding a 20% increase of cost.

I’d be paying more and using it less.

So it is canceled.

No mess,

No fuss, no muss.

It is done.

Bye Amazon.

Surrender is freedom

Surrender is freedom

I could write you, my readers 100 articles on

how to make momey,

How to save money,

how to blog,

how to market,

and so on and so forth.

But it would all be worthless.

You see I am learning now I have to surrender.

Surrender my fear.

Surrender my angst.

Surrender my procrastination.

By giving up trying to control everything myself, in my flesh, I am finding peace and strength.

Now there is nothing wrong with a plan, a controlled effort exerted to predict and control outcomes.

But if we don’t surrender control of the negatives in ourlives we do not make way for positives.

Think of it this way: if my pantry is stocked with goods that expired in 2016, I can not eat them. And if I do not discard them then there is no room for fresh supply.

What are you holding onto?

What have you not surrendered?
