The Secret to being Successful

Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful.

Ask for Help- it can make You Powerful

13 Feb

A lot of times, pride dictates louder than reason.

And it is pretty easy to let that run its course and than claim to feel manly, or strong.
Hey, you did it on your own terms right?
Wrong.

I’d been trying to set up the website for my new venture for a week.
And for some reason I couldn’t get it done.
Now the infrastructure was down, the domain arranged for and so on.
So today at a meeting I asked the group for help.
And in 60 seconds they had. Me up and running!
Literally.

Now let’s examine that for a minute.
– I got done what I needed in exactly a minute.
What I spent 5 days, an hour a day doing- my mentor showed me how to do in a minute.
He didn’t do it for me.
He showed me the small step I was missing.

And now that site is open globally via. The Internet, able to make me money 24-7.
Awake or asleep, that website will bring in business and legitimize me and my business.
So I lost 4 hours and 59 minutes by waiting to ask for help.
I could go on with persuasive arguments, and explaining the power of the mental collective when focused on one task-
But I won’t waste your time.

Look at that, and make sure you own every minute.

Weekend Reading

7 Feb

I won’t be watching the Super Bowl.
But I will be reading all weekend and hitting the gym to increase my value and get ahead.
Sorry folks, no insults to anyone- I just don’t watch sports.

If you do, enjoy.
Just remember to make sure the TV isn’t holding your dream hostage.

2016 Goals update

2 Feb

*For my goal of losing 30lbs this year- I’m down 14lbs and counting.
The goal will be to drop 30lbs and end the year down 30lbs.
As in almost 50% there in a month I see it as highly feasible.

*For my savings goal, which I doubled – I’ve met it so far (sorry no #s as money is a private matter). I am supremely confident this goal will sail through.

*For my 2 books a month goal- well I read 3.6 books. Good right?
WRONG.
I read 2 fiction books and 1.6 education/management/finance/personal development books.
While the number is almost double I realized 2 days shy of February that I must read books that Grow ME, not entertain me.

*For my recruiting goal, I missed the mark.
But I am happy as I reached out to numerous people and got solid commitments.
With this goal I simply have to break free of my fear and use my God given talents.

*As for my mystery goal, I smashed it out of the park! Details to come in December.

Remember folks, set goals, have to do lists, and be accountable for them.

Goals, get some!

27 Jan

Damn me to heck if this ain’t the goal!

The idea of life being exactly what I want has me totally changing my life.
Concepts are now fuel to blast my success rocket and the money, and lessons I’ve learned are merely the launchpad.

I fully plan for 2016 to be life changing and to stretch me as a man, husband, and leader in ways I can’t even fathom yet.

Faith in myself and in my new path will take me there- no question.
What are you hungry for?

What risk(s) will you take?

What will you give up to get to the level after the next level?

Need help?

Start here :
1- Write down what you love doing.

2- Write out how you think you can make that passion a full-time lifestyle slash job.

3- Seek out help in making it happen.

4- Make sure that small steps, aka attainable activity and motions are the foundation of this plan.

Stop Yelling at the Dog

20 Jan

Picture it: Sicily, 1938…
OK I’m not Sophia from Golden Girls, but my story will have a lesson.

I’m walking up the block after a late meeting at the office.
Across the street this guy is yelling at his beagle and yanking hard on the leash.

He is telling the dog to stay repeatedly while he himself is edging into traffic to cross the street.

He stops and yells at the beagle, that if it doesn’t stop it will get hit by a car and that it has to listen to reason.

Stop and let that sink in.

Now I’m not trying to piss off PETA, but it was a dog not another adult.

And he was in the wrong by jaywalking himself.

What am I getting at?

*Are you Leading by example?
Do you do what you ask of others?
If you want me to recruit I hope you have mastered that skill set. Doing things the right way is not just proper folks, it’s second only to helping others in leadership.

*How are you communicating?
I hate being yelled at by my peers, higher ups, or bosses.
And I’d wager so does everyone.
So don’t yell at people.
Effective communication is two parts listening, one part talking.
Condescension is fun

– for some, but pain for others. So skip that too.
Simply put; don’t be a jerk.

*Lastly, have realistic expectations of those around you.
This guy told the beagle to listen to reason.
The team goes at the speed of the leader. And if the leader expects the team to deliver 1000% of the time like he does, yeah failure rates become astronomical.
Be present minded. Know what can and cannot be done.
In the gym, the newbie can’t bench 2 plates. So if he starts with dimes- that is still progress. As to my last point- Congratulate them. To the first point, lift the same amount and show and explain how to get to the 2 plates.
See how that last part tied it all in?

I’m willing to bet you did.
