NSI (Never Stop Improving)

30 Sep

So many of you noticed I haven’t posted for a few days. And many also noticed that my last article wasn’t finance or entrepreneurial based. Heck it had no place in this blog by most standards. However it was a step, a big step actually. You see I wrote that article for a separate site. And my reasons were threefold.

-To express myself.
-To hone my craft.
-To make a modest or marvelous writing career materialize.
Ill break it down real quick.

-To express myself.
I’m sure my mother would say I always wanted to talk lol. She tells stories of me being young and talking to anyone and everyone. From being on the train coming from brooklyn @ 2 years old talking to drunks, to speaking with prostitutes and anyone who would listen- I’ve always spoke. And about as far back as I can remember writing I remember being a poet as well. Now as time has progressed so has my skill and subject matter. Far from being a master, I’m simply a novice who knows such. I’m barely trained in the classical sense but find that to be a trivial if not irrelevant matter. In the day and age of computers and the advent of blogging I find that will to create and share in an honest fashion will triumph.

That being said, I just say what I want. I always wanted to be an entrepreneur and sold stickers in elementary school. So naturally my first blog was focused on success and entrepreneurial growth. And now my extra efforts are being set aside to focus on my other loves and perhaps a good bit of exposure.

-To hone my craft.
To do anything is to do it well or you’re wasting time. I write because it pleases me. And as I grow older I’ve also decided to write for gain. If not cash gain at least respect. I’ve decided that I won’t do anything unless I do it all right. There is a fine line between just putting out words and speaking truth with a masters touch. Now I’m not a master but I look forward simply towards its journey.

-To make a modest or marvelous writing career materialize.
As long as I’ve been able to write I’ve written for more than school. Poetry, rap lyrics, papers that weren’t required. It never mattered. I’ve written and written. And as an adult I’ve realized I want it to be a career. I may not win a pulitzer etc etc- but I will follow through on my dream. This month and the next I have features and columns coming out in 3 different venues not my own. I’m also doing much of this for free. Why you ask? Simply for the love of my craft. I will write until I’m dead and that being so I will attempt to make a career of it. Nothing in this life is good unless you make it such. And so I shall.

Consumers, Creators and Consistency

16 Sep

Consumers, Creators and Consistency.

There are very few people who will accept responsibility for their situation. PERIOD. Sorry folks but its the first step to financial freedom and entrepreneurial ecstasy.
In fact I’ll take it a step further and state that most people don’t know whether they are consumers, creators, and if they are even consistent in any fashion. Let’s break this down friends.

-Consumer.
A consumer consumes, period.
From dictionary.com:
consumer[ kuh n-soo-mer ]. noun
1. a person or thing that consumes.
2. a person or organization that uses a commodity or service.
3. an organism, usually an animal, that feeds on plants or other animals.
That’s it its simple. They consume but don’t create. A classic consumer is the individual who garners a small check through labor or income through others and in turn only spends on goods that own no value.
The average consumer is just that, a consumer. They don’t contribute to society in a meaningful way. They don’t seek financial freedom. They do however have the newest Beats by Dre. They have new sneakers every quarter at a minimum. And they also lack savings or financial planning let alone financial savvy of any sort. They either don’t care or blame it on the wealthy and while this is enticing its also a cheap way out. Sorry folks. I’m the first one to admit he loves possessions. However I will give back. I do volunteer. I have done community service. This blog is also free and I have a few students that will not be sold my ventures and will only be given free education in their finances and entrepreneurial drive. I also work and have a few ventures. I’m not better than anyone, I just see that we have to work all the avenues. Join me in doing so.

-Creators.
Creators are those who find avenues of financial growth. They not only consume but they create product and tools and services. They don’t simply work for income. They create income. They build futures and provide jobs.
From dictionary.com:
creator[ kree-ey-ter ]. noun
1. a person or thing that creates.
2. God.
Now we aren’t God. So working with only the first definition we see that we have to create to step above the rest. Okay, the definition doesn’t imply that but the fact that the next definition is to be God only verifies my assumptions and mind frame. My friends we are here to create. We are here to thrive and not just survive. (#thriveorsurvive get the hint…)
And anyone and everyone can create.
Find your niche. Create your hustle. Love to write? Be a published author. I can do this for you at low to no cost!
Want to be a tattoo artist? I have the mentor you need. There are people a tweet away. A message away. So don’t make excuses. Meet your destiny head on and create it.

-Consistency.
Consistency, wow. I love this topic and my followers know. And I’m the first cat to admit I drop the ball. But I keep track. This sets me in to a pattern where I drop the proverbial ball less and less and I become a better entrepreneur. My Consistent desire and approach to and for success has bred this trait for me. It wasn’t inherent.
So let’s look at two forms of consistency.
*Captain consumer is consistent- at only spending 9 out of ten times. This individual will plot and plan to purchase and acquire. Hey that’s cool but it doesn’t build empires.
*Captain creation on the other creates before he consumes. He gives back. He has an idea that consumes his efforts. This idea becomes his consistency. He is at it day after day, hour after hour.
This is Positive consistency. When you chase consistency it rewards you.
However is your desired reward belongings and possessions, or is it growth and financial freedom that in turn let’s you have what you desire?

Consistency can plague you or build you. What do you choose? Being consistent in building an empire gave Columbus, Napoleon, Malcolm X, Genghis Khan, and many more true freedom.
Consistency is simply the act of repetition. Determine a simple formula for you and repeat it. That’s it folks.

Core Concepts, Some Old Some New

27 Aug

Core Concepts, Some Old Some New.

So I’m going to be a bit erratic today folks.
I’m going to cover some stuff I’ve spoke on and some stuff that’s eluded my fans and myself as well. I’m also going to go out of order. Better said- I’m going to use these four core concepts in an order that I think precedes success.
-Put in the time
-Focus
-Mentors
-Follow through.

That’s it folks. Four core concepts that can change your business, change your life.
Let’s dig in!

-Put in the time.
I don’t care who you are or what your deal is. You will get nowhere if your dream, plan, scheme is a hobby. Sorry it’s a fact. You are a failure before you even dig in. Mastery of anything takes 10,000 hours.
Don’t have ten thousand hours to get rich? To be perpetually wealthy?
See you at the finish line after you’re lapped. I don’t care who you are or what your troubles and time constraints are.
Make time for your future. Make time to be free forever so you don’t miss the games with the kids or that super bowl vacation you only dreamed of before. Start small. Use your lunch breaks and bathroom time to sharpen your mind. When you have coffee read to build strategies from authors who have done it before you. Turn off the television. And xbox, ps3, not going to put cash into your roth ira is it?
Everyone has an hour a day for starters. Find yours.

-Focus.
You don’t get anything done well without it. Focus is the key that unlocks your dreams and desires. Chaos creates only more chaos. A focused mind however will guide and create. A focused mind is a tool that when honed to perfection will find cashflow and residual income. However you have to avoid the distractions. Turn off the tv- see a trend there? After that make sure you fill your time with productive tasks. The gym, education, reading. Make lists of what you need to do and the dollar amounts to reach on the road to financial freedom. When you are doing the tasks and steps that are required for your business- do only that. Multitasking detracts for most people. When you’re at work you work right? Well at your own venture you must be that much more focused.

-Mentors.
Mentors are great. A good mentor will for many mean the difference between success and failure. A mentor can illuminate the path for you whether you are in the same business or not. A mentor will help you see the mistakes you are making and help you skip a few they made themselves. My mentors are both highly successful and one is even in my current venture. However the one who isn’t is still there when I have questions and needs. His willingness to help and his thirst for knowledge and self growth are not only infectious but influential.
Accountability is a key aspect of a good mentor. They will ask you the questions you hoipe they won’t. They will want answers when you fail. They will require you work harder. And they need not gain from your success to be effective. A mentor may cost you money and they may not charge a dime. be aware thought hat you get what you pay for.
Lastly, the mentor I speak to most frequently asked me one question and pointed out my greatest flaw in my business endeavors. Do you see the power?

-Follow through.
So you got your focused mindset and your putting in 3 hours a day with a fifteen hour minimum. Awesome! You even found a mentor and things are smooth. Their pricing is reasonable and your learning curve has been exciting.
Great now FOLLOW THROUGH.
Life isn’t simply trying and applying. You have to repeat the process. Over and over and over. That’s it. No compromise, no hoping it was enough. Make it enough. Every action that breeds success must be repeated over and over. Not only will you become more successful but you will become better at these steps as you complete them repeatedly. NBA, NFL, MLB- all require repetitive motion to rise to the top. Ask Jeter. Ask Ted Williams. Ask Ray Allen. Ask Kobe Bryant. They don’t win and then slack. In the off season they work. And if you have competition for your business- buddy, you better believe your competition is training when you’re sleeping. That is the nature of the beast. Practice your craft. And then make practicing your practice a step. Sounds odd, I know. But you will get me when you see how it builds for you.

Think, Plan, Do. Review. (hat tip to Privilege)

17 Aug

Think, Plan, Do. -Review.
(Hat tip to Privilege)

I love this idea.
The concept, the simplicity, the eloquence.
This is a plan for any and everyone. Whether you are an artist, in the NBA or the NFL- this four step plan is concise and fluid. Now let’s dig in.

-THINK.
Every step, every journey begins with a single thought. The mind settles on an objective and moves forward. Sometimes you don’t see it or feel it. Yet you will respond. You will achieve. And the best part is you did without doing. This is good. The question is how do we make this a fluid aka. continuous motion?
Easy- plan ahead.
When you make plans you clear the mind.
When you make plans you are free to react. Removing the need for thought by having a predisposition of action leaves you available to DO. Fireman drill drill drill, and then drill. So in the heat of the moment- pun intended- they can ACT.

-PLAN.
We touched on this already but it’s integral. When you have an idea, you have a start. But when you layout a plan, especially on paper you have triumphed already. A plan gives you the edge. How do you make one? Write out the steps in chronological order of what needs to happen and then see what you would like to happen. Every rapper wants the deal first but that’s not viable. So they need a plan- a scheme to follow to know how and when to do shows, media blitzes, social marketing appearances and studio time. Also when you set a plan you know not only what steps to take and when- but also what is missing. Many times when we set out to accomplish something we forget steps. (Hint- when you write a paper, speech or article, read it aloud and see how it flows and what’s missing. Works for students, moguls and millionaires alike.)
So write it out, read it, and get advise on it. Always ask for help ppl.

-DO.
Get it done. Nothing else to say. Sorry folks but without action there is no satisfaction. There is failure though. Poverty and misery too if you like. So what will you DO? Act people. My traffic went up four thousand percent when I committed not just money- but TIME aka EFFORT to it. That’s right: 4000%. I’m still a small fish but its a big pond and I have room to grow. Are you doing enough or did you quit?
Resting on your laurels?
See you later.

-REVIEW.
You have your concept. You have your plan. And your doing daily. Making moves, succeeding and seeing small gains. What more can you do? Review your efforts. Make sure you aren’t slacking. You know what I mean people. A little effort and we get lax. A little success and we get a head full of helium and do less than the case calls for. A good work ethic is key but constant review will make sure you are focused and grounded. If you are focused on sales and or recruiting you need to see what you are doing right and what you are doing wrong. In a venture I’m involved in I can track my campaigns and see what approaches work and which don’t. Its great because if my capture pages don’t convert the evidence is there and I can adjust accordingly. This makes business a breeze. Now some people don’t want to have failure slapping them in the face- Sorry folks. We all make mistakes and catching them sooner makes you successful faster. You will also be better and wiser. So the loss is not there. Know what works and what doesn’t. Then move forward. Success is a journey and sometimes we step back to move forward.

Fake it till you make it. (And other concepts you might like)

29 Jun

Fake it till you make it.
(And other concepts you might like)

Ok so it sounds nuts. I know. But I have a friend who subscribes to this theory and we will explore it today.

-Fake it till you make it is a simple concept that dictates you implicate your greatness before it has arrived in its fullness.

Sounds perfect I’d say. You see here you are being implored to put forward the millionaire, the king, the champ. Its akin to method acting. Get into the roll and you will succeed. And for some its the simple act of pretending they are king that makes them king. In life perception is key in any arena. If people perceive you to be successful often times you will be. People buy what you sell so the question is are you selling the thrifty kid who lives in his moms basement? The cheapskate who is smart? Or perhaps the put together businessman who is seeking partners not change? Its that’s simple to be the same guy and lose the same clients,
partners, and or investors. Solution?

-Act As If.
Act As If is simply being who you will become. When you are selling, act as if. When you are closing- Act As If. Be the Ceo. He’s the boss and if you are the captain of your ship so are you. Are you an industry leader? Act As If. Now I’m nut suggesting you go around pretending and misleading clients as an SEO genius or some equivalent. What you should be doing is exuding the confidence an expert has. Mastery of a subject or concept will add confidence and should bolster your ability to attract clients et al. Act As If means you be the BOSS. If you are aiming for success you should be the boss. Aren’t you the boss? If not you will spend all of your dies building someone else’s dreams. You Decide.

-What you do daily will dictate your success level.
Your habits should dictate success. A winner does. And so does a fake it till you make it king. You see you have to look the part and act the part. Are you dressed for success even to simply post a blog? You should be. You will see the winner or the loser based on your appearance- and so will everyone else. Ready to be the boss? You get your To Do List done. And so does the fake it till you make it guy- your list is the basis for success. You get it done in order to win. No matter your position to get to the top you have to do the daily grind.
Get it done people.

-Daily is your mentality that of a Leader or a follower?
If you wake up and treat your venture as a job- you have a boss. And you have failed. If you get up and don’t tell yourself you will conquer, you will be conquered. If you have a worker bee mentality than you will always be in the hive. Sorry folks but I don’t see success in this mentality. What we focus on mentally is what we achieve and if you focus on a sucky job- you will always have one.
If you focus on Modern Warfare 3- great. Congrats- you have achieved NOTHING. Now we could argue that you can build team skills, and leadership skills, blah, blah, blah,
Truth be told. You are losing. A leader focuses on getting tasks done. The leader will bring out the best in others. Leadership is a character that is built by doing. So when you wake up in the morning what do you intend to build? Good game stats or blog hits that total over a million unique visits in less than a year?
Do you look for knowledge or check email for the bosses newest missive on how he wants your productivity to increase and when?
These actions aren’t smart or productive.
Waking up and meditating is.
Starting with reading a book is. Intaking instruction and exhaling stress works. Getting the things you hate done first is smart. These things are the making of a leader. A follower dreads leaving bed. He hits the snooze seven times. He avoids productivity at work. He sneaks Facebook time on work servers. A leader will work hard at work until he is his own boss. And then works harder. Everyday you have to tell yourself you are the boss and then move from that perspective.
Get it done people.

I WOULD BE A SITH

I WOULD BE A SITH

So, most people will hate me for this, but hey I’m honest.  I couldn’t be a Jedi.  Denying everything I might ever want.  Ignoring urges, needs, and desires to be broke, technically homeless, and wear snazzy robes?  Nope not for me.  Sorry.  See I like Lamborghinis. Ferraris, Porsches, and M3s oh my!

Back to focus though- first I apologize for the lack of articles.  I had some technically difficulties and had to write on scratch paper until I could get my tech back to perfection.  As I was saying- I would be a Sith.

The Sith are comparably powerful, self indulgent, and are still masters of their craft.  All things that most people when they are honest will agree that they approve of.

-No one wakes up denying a lust for success.

Everyone wants to be successful.  To complete goals and dreams gives a sense of success, confidence and poise.  People who build from success to success are guess what?  Extremely successful you see I’ve never met a person who wanted to be third place.  Heck, no one goes to the Olympics for silver!  We all want to be winners.  To triumph where others fail and where few shall venture is the very pinnacle of existence in some cultures and for many many people.  Have you never not wanted more? Pardon the double negative but I write it purposely to convey my point.  When you were little and you played monopoly you wanted to win.  You may have bought the crap properties but you had a strategy that you thought led down the path to victory.  I rest my case.

-Sith chase their desires.

When you were young, and maybe even in your older age (I digress I’m in my 30s) you wanted things.  To race cars, build a motorcycle, relive the movie easy riders.
Today many of us have traded freedom for security. What I mean is that we have traded jobs for dreams and mortgages for adventures. Now there’s no problem with growing up- can’t be Peter Pan forever. Yet slaving all day under a boss is surely not the American dream. Take me for example. I want to work, but for myself. I don’t want a boss.
I don’t want a mortgage, unless there is some tax gains to be had.
I don’t want to need a union.
I don’t want the economy to dictate my employability or impede my financial goals.
I do want freedom to do as I please.
I do want time to watch my children grow.
I do want to fire my boss.
I do want to vacation anywhere, at the drop of a dime.
Don’t you?
Isn’t it time to chase dreams?
Can’t work be the same amount of passion and fun as activities you control and build wealth on?

-Sith focus.

Simple point to grasp. What you focus on you will obtain. Focused on fun. You will get it. Focused on girls, you’ll have ten.
Focus dictates your reality. If you are not focused on achieving greatness you will be nothing. Sith focused on achieving power and greatness. Shouldn’t you focus on the same if you want to leave the 9 to 5 grind behind?

-Sith hone their craft.
You want to be wealthy. You will use options or perhaps real estate or an MLM. No matter the path to wealth and freedom you choose you must work at the skills it takes to accomplish it. Flippers need to know variables, comps, tax rules, et al. Options traders must know candle stick charts, timing, and when to get in and out of an option. And in MLM you have to know how to identify your warm market, seize your cold one, and solve problems for people.
In any venture and all ventures you must learn the skills needed. And this is a lifetime process.
Ted williams talked to pitchers to learn their habits. He examined the game. He used the sports casters and news reporters hatred to fuel him. He worked day in and day out at his task and his reward was true baseball greatness.
Work at being great and you will be.

There is nothing wrong with being only partially altruistic when chasing your dreams. But if you focus and give back you will succeed. If you practice daily. You will succeed.

Let desires and wants add fuel to your why to get you to your dream accomplishment.

Know YOUR GOAL

5 Jun

Know YOUR GOAL

So I was watching Jay Cutler aka Mr. Olympia at a speaking event. For those of my readers who are like- huh?- Jay is basically the top body builder in the world. People from all over the globe come to compete in the Mr. Olympia. In essence you don’t just walk in and become the champ. You fight and claw your way to the top. And most of your competitors- are former Mr Olympias. Doesn’t it just get better?
I say all this as a preamble.
So let me segway-
Jay was giving a talk, kind of informal and part q&a. And people asked what do you bench?
What do you squat?
Dead-lift?

someone said what do you clear in…..?
And Jay said? I don’t know. I don’t do that. That’s power lifting not bodybuilding.
Said concisely- one is about what you lift one is about what you shape. Power lifters and there bunch are about massive, brute, strength. And they work at it. They put in the hours, no question. But its a different sport. Bodybuilders attain a weight class and size they want. And they don’t just bulk up. They shape it. They even it out. Proportion and mass are balanced. Posing routines are mastered, tans gotten… You get the point.

WHATS YOUR POINT TONY?
Glad you asked.
See Jay didn’t answer. He didn’t get a ‘tude. He pointed out what was His Goal.
He is a body builder not a power lifter. Nuff said. And here in lies the key to today’s lesson: KNOW YOUR GOAL.
Elegant in its simplicity but so powerful.
If you have a goal what is it?
Have you decided?
Is it one goal with a few facets?
Are you trying to build multiple streams of income at once?
If so, brother you might just lose. You see FOCUS. Is the name of the game.
Is your goal- ill be rich. Pretty close. How about my venture will make me rich.
Or I will sign up 8 associates.
I will sell a property a month.
I will save 12 percent of every check I receive.
See the pattern developing?
These are goals. Concise, Focused, you-centric goals.
You-centric. Sounds odd, I know. But think about what it means. Your goal- is YOU specific. See? There’s accountability built into your goal. A dream has now become a goal. A hope is on its path to reality. There’s a specific set of rules to succeed in life. There is no free buffet. Everything has a price.
To be your own boss.
To be independently wealthy.
To be able to live where you want with whom you please and as you please to- all require action. These things require goals,
a plan- a written plan,
A commitment
A belief
And consistency.
Now we have spoke on many of these things and there are more steps and further breakdowns we will discuss as we progress down this road together.
But just as I have committed to this blog you have to commit to ONE, 1, GOAL.
Know this goal. If I asked you at 3am what your goal is would you curse me or have a succinct answer?
And guess what. I don’t expect you will have but one goal. Or even one dream. Life is a series of small victories chained together to create a dynamic, fruitful, epic that will have been a greater ride than the destination. Use THIS Goal as a stepping stone.
Set it. Focus it. Smash it out of the park. Do your end zone dance. And then, rinse and repeat. AKA start the process over. The first goal met will fuel you to rise past the next 5 and so forth.

Know YOUR GOAL

4 Jun
