Success Isn’t Optional

Don’t Be a Complainer by Jim Rohn

1 Oct

This is so good I won’t even post today.
I’ve been eclipsed! And I’m glad.

Don’t Be a Complainer by Jim Rohn

Complaining. There’s room for legitimate complaining, but if you let this deadly disease of attitude – complaining – loose, it will conquer you. Complaining can take over your life, destroy you and leave you without anything. Nobody wants to take along a complainer. Nobody wants to promote a complainer. Nobody wants to live with one. Nobody wants to be a partner of one. Nobody wants to have one around. Complaining leaves you out of more opportunities than you can possibly imagine if you let it take over and grab you by the throat. If you don’t think complaining is bad ask the children of Israel of Old Testament fame. Now let me say something right here, they are typical of us all (if we had ourselves in a similar position); their story just happened to get in the Book.

The story says that the children of Israel are slaves in Egypt. God performed a series of dazzling miracles and gets them out. Now they have their freedom and are heading for the Promised Land. But… the tragedy of the story – they never got there. Reason – from day one they started to complain.

They griped about the food – they had just been delivered from slavery and they are complaining about the food?! They complained and cried and griped about the water. In the desert they HAD water to drink, but… it didn’t taste that good?! They complained about the leadership… that had just delivered them from slavery?! They complained that it was too hot, too cold, too far, too difficult, and too rocky. They cried for years – forty to be exact. Finally, God said I’ve had it – trip cancelled!

The story says that they died in the desert and never reached the Promised Land – after all that trouble! I believe this story teaches two things:

1) Indulge in complaining long enough and you will get your future cancelled – future promotions, future opportunities.

2) Even God himself can only take so much complaining.

I think you get my point. Complaining is not for the winners in life. You must focus on what you can do, not what you cannot. And you must focus on the opportunities not the difficulties. When you do this you will not only inspire yourself but you will be an example for others to follow as well.

ZEEK REWARDS SHUT DOWN!!! (a quick lesson)

19 Aug

ZEEK REWARDS SHUT DOWN!!!
(a quick lesson)

So Zeek Rewards and their mlm model and bid site and sale site are shut down.
A Ponzi scheme the Attorney General said. Interesting. Now there are many people signing petitions to get back in. A fellow network marketer I know had about eight grand in Zeek and was doing a couple hundred a day in income. He even made twelve hundred dollars in one day! However he never took his profits out. He let it “keep bubbling” as he put it. Now he will get his money back most likely and no profits.
Now I’m not here to malign the company or my friend. Or even prey on those Zeek people who still need a good opportunity.
I just want to discuss a few parameters and educate my readers.

So let’s let this ramble and you guys guide me with your replies.

-Lost credibility.
The guy who brings you into this venture, if it was zeek or any other may have lost credibility now. And this will largely depend on how he got you to join and how he mentored you. If he did the quick sale and sold you pipe dreams you probably resent him now. In all fairness people you are to blame. First his sales pitch, speech, spiel etc is wrong. He should have been teaching and guiding you into a point of being a pro at the venture and any others you go to. That’s a leader. That’s the guy you join. He is a mentor. Second if you fell for a quick, no need to recruit business you got had- by your greed. Zeek had a three tier sponsorship/buy-in. So how did u make $$$$ without getting in the ppl at the top? Yup, I looked at zeek. And put no money in. It didn’t look kosher. I won’t plug my venture here. Its not the time. But I will say that when you do network marketing- and you DON’T NETWORK- you will LOSE. Sorry. Its true. Get on the phone. Meet and greet. Make the commitment and you won’t have to worry about their credibility or yours.

-Never promise the sky.
I don’t care if you work for the FAA- never promise more than you can deliver. I had a teacher say always promise less and deliver more. The reason being that if you do less they expected that. If you do more they are pleased. Once you promise the best output you have to deliver. Now I say aim for that. That’s smart. Its feasible. However you need to set achievable goals. And make only promises YOU can keep.

-Who did they want to recruit?
Zeek sounded awesome. Money with no effort or just a few messages and emails and even more money. Now if Zeek recruited anyone who bought the dream they were going to lose anyway. You don’t recruit the last place guy to play in the USA team in the Olympics right?

-Who do u recruit?
*Listeners. The people who don’t ‘know it all.” The people who will listen and ask questions. They grow. They yield results.
*Those willing to fail. Sorry but failure is part of growth. Every toddler falls while learning how to walk. Every runner loses a race. The hungry get up and learn to cook. They catch a meal and cook it. Same in business. The ones who want it will get it. I’ve only grown out of hunger. And failure. Failure has made me a better man than I could explain in 5 blogs.
*Those willing to put the work in.
You don’t get rich doing nothing. You get rich working. You get a house by building it. And the same in a business. Put in the sweat equity. Put in the hours blogging. Let yourself be a slave to your tasks. The guy who practices makes his shots. The guy who gets six rings is Jordan. He trained HARD. Tiger Woods: TRAINS SUPER HARD. You make 0% of the shots you don’t take. So practice taking those shots. 3000 practice shots gets you key tournament shots. Go for the gold. In network marketing- speak to every stranger you SEE!! And remember:
Everyone wants to play, no one wants to lose.

Think, Plan, Do. Review. (hat tip to Privilege)

17 Aug

Think, Plan, Do. -Review.
(Hat tip to Privilege)

I love this idea.
The concept, the simplicity, the eloquence.
This is a plan for any and everyone. Whether you are an artist, in the NBA or the NFL- this four step plan is concise and fluid. Now let’s dig in.

-THINK.
Every step, every journey begins with a single thought. The mind settles on an objective and moves forward. Sometimes you don’t see it or feel it. Yet you will respond. You will achieve. And the best part is you did without doing. This is good. The question is how do we make this a fluid aka. continuous motion?
Easy- plan ahead.
When you make plans you clear the mind.
When you make plans you are free to react. Removing the need for thought by having a predisposition of action leaves you available to DO. Fireman drill drill drill, and then drill. So in the heat of the moment- pun intended- they can ACT.

-PLAN.
We touched on this already but it’s integral. When you have an idea, you have a start. But when you layout a plan, especially on paper you have triumphed already. A plan gives you the edge. How do you make one? Write out the steps in chronological order of what needs to happen and then see what you would like to happen. Every rapper wants the deal first but that’s not viable. So they need a plan- a scheme to follow to know how and when to do shows, media blitzes, social marketing appearances and studio time. Also when you set a plan you know not only what steps to take and when- but also what is missing. Many times when we set out to accomplish something we forget steps. (Hint- when you write a paper, speech or article, read it aloud and see how it flows and what’s missing. Works for students, moguls and millionaires alike.)
So write it out, read it, and get advise on it. Always ask for help ppl.

-DO.
Get it done. Nothing else to say. Sorry folks but without action there is no satisfaction. There is failure though. Poverty and misery too if you like. So what will you DO? Act people. My traffic went up four thousand percent when I committed not just money- but TIME aka EFFORT to it. That’s right: 4000%. I’m still a small fish but its a big pond and I have room to grow. Are you doing enough or did you quit?
Resting on your laurels?
See you later.

-REVIEW.
You have your concept. You have your plan. And your doing daily. Making moves, succeeding and seeing small gains. What more can you do? Review your efforts. Make sure you aren’t slacking. You know what I mean people. A little effort and we get lax. A little success and we get a head full of helium and do less than the case calls for. A good work ethic is key but constant review will make sure you are focused and grounded. If you are focused on sales and or recruiting you need to see what you are doing right and what you are doing wrong. In a venture I’m involved in I can track my campaigns and see what approaches work and which don’t. Its great because if my capture pages don’t convert the evidence is there and I can adjust accordingly. This makes business a breeze. Now some people don’t want to have failure slapping them in the face- Sorry folks. We all make mistakes and catching them sooner makes you successful faster. You will also be better and wiser. So the loss is not there. Know what works and what doesn’t. Then move forward. Success is a journey and sometimes we step back to move forward.

THREE DOLLARS and A DREAM

16 Aug

THREE DOLLARS PLEASE.

So my friends. We all have needs. Dreams. And of course we all need more mula. I don’t care if you are a consistent six figure earner. More money helps anyone and everyone get ahead. Now before you get the money you need a few things. A plan per say. No better yet a SYSTEM that is a plan. And a few other tools to go with these things.
And I have great news for you:
I’m not trying to sell you a thing!
And the total cost of what I suggest you buy is about 3 bucks. Yes THREE DOLLARS. Better than the lottery and I’m not even angling for an affiliate commission folks. I just want a group of winners with me at the finish line. Simply put. If we all win, we can than work together to win bigger. And if we are all wealthy, well that doesn’t hurt either right?

Do YOU have:
A plan
A dream board
A goal sheet
A financial status sheet
A debt elimination plan
An income creation plan
A wealth accumulation structure?

You see I have these things and they are quite handy. Actually as a unit they created the very framework for my business and no they aren’t my product and I didn’t learn them from one person. By having more than one mentor I have learned a few strategies and a healthy number of solutions to my business woes and some great tips for health. That is what good mentors do- they educate and create balance for you.
And so without further ado:

-A plan.
A plan is key. You don’t have to know what you are doing to create the framework. Every house has a blueprint and then a frame that everything else builds off of. Jay-Z in his auto-bio said that the greatest thing he and his two partners did was make a business plan once they had committed. It wasn’t the greatest or most concise, but it gave them the layout and the drive to succeed. Dreams are just that until you make them part of an action plan. So list the steps you see needing to happen for you to dominate.
Then seek out advice.
Edit.
And GET TO WORK!

-A dream board.
A dream board is a simple thing with immense power.
Go get a piece of cardboard about 3×6.
A pair of scissors.
A glue stick.
And some magazines or your laptop.
Next find images of the things you want in life. A pic of a cruise ship for great vacations. The new cadillac CTS, a Rarri. A dream home. All of these should be cut out and posted on your dream board. Lastly put the dream board where you can’t help but see it. All the time. This will help you to focus on your dreams which will fuel your mind to find opportunities and make money.
A goal sheet.
Easy. One piece of paper and a pen. List all your goals in any order you like. they’re your goals after all. These must encompass: Business goals
Life goals
Family goals
Career goals
And any others you want in there. Make it work and make 3 copies.

-A financial status sheet.
You won’t get where you want or need to be if you don’t know your starting point.
Write out your current financial needs- rent, utilities, cell phone, tithes, fun, car lease, insurance. Any of these and all of them if applicable. Any thing you spend money on consistently is on this list. Mortgage, student loans, cigarettes. All of it. Know where your money is going.
Next write what is coming in. You know what goes out so see the income that funds it.
After this see if you have a surplus or a deficit. If you make four grand every month and your expenses are three and a half grand congrats. If not, start eliminating. HBO isn’t a necessity.

-A debt elimination plan.
Almost all of us have debt. How many have a plan to remove it? Now that you did the financials see what money you can free up to pay debts. Start with the small ones and then as they disappear use the money that is added to remove bigger and bigger debts consecutively.

-An income creation plan.
How are you going to thrive?
How will you make more money?
How will that money make you money?
On paper draft your ideas towards making more money and then doubling this money. In our economy this is rare but if you don’t shoot for the moon you’re a fool. Now that you made your plan- see a professional. Get some guidance. Don’t buy anything per say but learn. And definitely save.
SAVE SAVE SAVE.
You can’t deal with life’s issues without an emergency fund and a life contingency fund. Save anything you can and you are a winner. Save ten percent and you are a king.
-A wealth accumulation structure.
You got the money, you’re crushing the debt. Now how do we get richer. Do you buy land or stocks?
Etfs or silver?
Gold or commodities?
Its up to you. The world is yours. I invest in numismatics regularly. But since I’m not a professional I strongly suggest you see a financial professional. I’m not one. I’m just a guy who makes informed decisions. Do the same my friends.

Education or Embellishment- What are you offering clients, customers, and cousins?

13 Aug

Education or Embellishment-
What are you offering clients, customers, and cousins?

Life is short. Making time a valuable commodity. The question is who’s time are you wasting when you don’t educate your followers, fans, friends, colleagues, and new recruits? The answer might surprise you.

A lot of people who are in network marketing or any sales and or
team-orientated business are focused on two things:
*sales
*recruits.
And hey those are good goals. Core goals in fact. However its the chase, and the implementation of the chase that will make or break you as a business person.

So the first guy, he’s all about sales. Commission king is on his license plate. He closes’em twenty four seven. He can sell anyone. And his close rate is high! I mean sixty percent (60%). That is high in our industry folks. Most people close three to five percent, yup- 3-5%. Those are good numbers like in baseball where three hits is a win. keep that in mind. So back to super closer. Yes he’s am Animal. Problem is he his retention rate, well it Sucks. Sorry for the latrine lip but he’s a fool. A failure. And here’s why.
*When you can’t keep your Team. You NEVER Had Your team.
See the problem? When your focus is on closing it isn’t on keeping. And a lot of guys close hard by promising the sky knowing statistics say otherwise. Now I’m not suggesting you say,
‘hey buddy-you will fail but sign up anyway.’ No. You say ‘This is a long ride but worth the trip. Wanna be better, wanna make money, wanna change lives?- Well let’s work bro!”. That is real. That is honest. And it is not negative. It is not false, phony or pretentious either. See how good it is. Why lie. Why sell hype. You see America, better yet the globe is poised for a serious reckoning. We have kicked the can down the road for decades. And when you duck bills you lose right? Example- ever pay just the minimum on a credit card? See how long it takes? And how much they juice you? EXACTLY. So why be that. Get them in with honesty. Friendship. Teaching. Partnership. Let them know that you will teach. Let them know the truth. Let them be happy with their choices. And they will come back. They will stay. They will make goals. Isn’t that the dream.

And as for captain recruit- well he’s more of the same. He says anything and anything to get the dotted line signed. He will tell you lies cleverly phrased to seal the deal. His embellishments are delightful to hear but are lies on the ear.
See when you focus on getting your team to grow you have the same problem as captain commission.
YOU HAVE HIGH ATTRITION RATES.
Aka they sign, they join, they LEAVE.
IN DROVES.
This is failure, this is foolhardy. It is not winning. You may get a quick infusion of cash but you are not a leader.
You are not a winner.
You have failed without even seeing it.
As leaders and team builders we have to foster growth. You don’t buy a plant or plant a vegetable garden and not water it right?
Follow up. Finish the game. Anyone see the Olympics? That one runner who tore his achilles and kept running- that’s a leader.
That’s a BOSS.
That is what business means. You move.
You keep momentum.
You keep going and you make sure your team has a shot regardless of personal cost. And you know what? That guy WON the Olympics. He gave when he had nothing to give. That is leadership. Now if can harness even a taste of that you will win for LIFE.
The question is what are you aiming for?
Give more now and reap that sowing later my friends.
(Figure out who’s time is wasted here?)

Part 3. You only need to do THREE (3) things to be successful in ANY business.

8 Aug

Part 3. You only need to do THREE (3) things to be successful in ANY business.

So I cut yesterdays article at the second step. And I did that on Monday too. And again I swear it wasn’t a gimmick or ploy, I just wanted to let the first two steps sink in. We discussed creating content and generating traffic. Now, finally its here.
Part 3 in the series:

-(Increase) Conversions.

So we talked about creating content and generating traffic. And now you have got those two steps working. For three months now you have plugged away and made it all work. Its not the numbers and statistics you thought you would get but traffics up three hundred percent from the content you made. Your videos are snazzy, your blog full of inspiration and poignant articles and insightful anecdotes. You have arrived in grand fashion. Heck even Google has finally indexed you and that was awesome!
The nasty secret though: no one has bought your products. No one has joined your teams. A few peoples emails and numbers are in your files and you’ve got great response to your words, and the product you. Believe in 200%. And that leaves you uptight.
Let’s figure this out together.

*Most people say no, ACCEPT IT.
I don’t care who you are. A large amount of your prospects will say NO. They may sat yeah, and when sign time; blank dotted line. a lot of people talk and talk is cheap. So don’t be discouraged. And never be ashamed. Want to make it work- know your conversion rate. If you get 80 opt-ins and only 8 convert- you have a ten percent closing rate. Now what does that mean? You know how many people you have to speak to on average to reap the rewards. 80 isn’t a lot. I used to do 108+ calls an hour at one job, each to a different individual. And in two languages. I was also ten years younger so if a I can….
The best part is your ‘no’s’ are your practice people in a way. How many swings does Tiger Woods take? How many shots did Michael Jordan take? Get the picture.
Lastly: keep going until you get a no. It will generally take five or six interactions to seal the deal. So be on point, be cordial, smile.

*Change your posture.
This is a big one. If you look like a shark in a suit based on demeanor. You will fail. You may draw some bait, and a lot of sharks- but in the end the sharks will feed on each other. You need a team. Attack from that angle. You are here to build not conquer. Get a solid foundation by adjusting your posture so it draws people and gives you a comfortable platform to move from. I won’t belabor this one with words. Let it sink in.

*DON’T Care.
Seriously, don’t. When you care about every little no you miss the big yes who builds a seven figure income. When a no bothers you, you miss the sale in front of you by being blind to it, rude, or plain old foolish. I hated rejection. It killed me when a friend said no. And a stranger was worse even though I never had to see them again. It crushed me. You see I tool it personal. However a lot of people won’t want or need what you have to offer. Other won’t see your vision. And some don’t want to see the vision. Some people keep their heads in the sand by choice while others don’t even know its in the sand. And so the question becomes why care? Strangers won’t be seen again so speak to ten a day or better. That doesn’t mean be callous or aloof- simply don’t care. When rejection like fear becomes either an ally or a tally mark you will cross a great horizon and feel and achieve a freedom and success that probably eluded you for years. Worry about being better not about Bob who said nawwwww.

*Adjust your sales funnels and lead capture pages.
I’ll close with this. Ever seen a fisherman ply his trade? Ever notice that different fish require different bait? Ever noticed that you won’t eat trash when you asked for steak. And so must your sales funnels and lead capture pages be. Are these pages drab? Are they too busy? Do people read, or watch the video and say this jerk is gonna rob me?
Odds are yours’ do these things. Now if its to basic then you are losing people. A good salesman has panache and bravado. People like what they see and are drawn to him. They like him and want what he has to offer, heck they’ll take two! A good sales funnel will get people to give you their info because they want you to call or they are ready to buy. A bad one shows tells them RUN! Color, variety, and videos work well. Good copyright is savory as well.
Now if you have the electric circus you might get a few net surfers and the kids too cool to wear their glasses-but expect no more. Ever go to the mall and the guy who hounds you for his commission is at every turn? Sorry folks but I despise this guy. Wait until I need you. Know your limits and your material and when the time comes I’ll let you close me. And so must your pages be. Not too much- aim to be concise.
Don’t bully your public with intelligence either. Huh? Yup I said it. If you are verbose or use SAT words all day- they won’t be captured. Its like the kid who’s parents lies are so grandiose he knows he’s getting a shot when they get to their destination and not a new bike. Ok maybe he gets the bike- but he doesn’t want to endure the first part. And he doesn’t like being tricked. And neither do your future partners. Give them a good tour, let them be excited. But don’t smother them.
Remember when everyone who was on myspace learned to copy and paste preset html so their pages had flash and all kinds of music and lightning and dancing rhinos (that one sounds cool I think)- well don’t do that. Myspace floundered and so will you. Clean, fluid, concise and consistent. Make those your guides and you will win.

Remember folks all your work is for naught if you don’t convert. So grow your conversion rates by having great content and tons of traffic.

Be a Ferrari, on a Los Angeles highway during rush hour- and you will take home the prom queen. Or any dream you wish.

The Great Challenge of Life by Jim Rohn

Here’s the great challenge of life – You can have more than you’ve got because you can become more than you are.

I have found that income seldom will exceed your own personal development. Once in a while income takes a lucky jump, but unless you grow out to where it is, it will go back to where you are. Somebody once said if you took all the money in the world and divided it among everyone equally; it would soon be back in the same pockets. However, you can have more because you can become more. You see, here is how the other side of the coin reads – unless you change how you are, you will always have what you’ve got. The marketing plan won’t do it. It ‘s a good plan but it won’t work without you. You’ve got to work it. It is the human effort that counts. If you could send a sales manual out to recruit – wouldn’t that be lovely? The major thing that makes the difference is what YOU do.

In order to have more, you need to become more. The guy says “If I had a good job I would really pour it on, but I have this lousy job so I just goof off.” If that is your philosophy, you are destined to stay there. Some people say if I had a lot of money I would be really generous, but I don’t have much so I’m not generous. See, you’ve got to change that philosophy or you will never have “the lots of money.” Unless YOU change, IT won’t change. Amazingly, however, when we throw out our blame list and start becoming more ourselves – the difference is everything else will begin to change around us.

Part 2. You only need to do THREE (3) things to be successful in ANY business.

7 Aug

Part 2. You only need to do THREE (3) things to be successful in ANY business.

-Generate Traffic.

So I cut yesterdays article after the first step. Actually it wasn’t a gimmick or ploy, I just wanted to let that first burst rattle around in your brains for 24 hours or so.
And so we discussed creating content and where to do it. And at that where it could be done for free!
Now let’s get unpack this together.
Part 2 in the series:

-Generate Traffic.
Generating traffic is a big step.
So you know how to blog and where to place it. And that is the first step in generating traffic.

*Post strategically.
This involves not just writing the blog but adding a few things.
Always, always use your blogs address in your articles, blogs, and or content. http://www.HiImMe.com- whatever the link you mention it. Let people always know who you are. When you participate where your audience already gathers you are shooting fish in a barrel to use an old saying.

*Keywords.
These will define your blog in a way I can’t equate. When people are searching for help, or an mlm. Or they need advice, or want a mentor- they will get on Google or Baidu or yahoo and search the most common terms. And if they are vague- these search engines will use the most successful and best ranked keywords to answer you in a way that should exceed your expectations. (More on this another day.)

*Target your content to an Audience likely to share.
If you love fishing, don’t blog about it on an ultimate frisbee blog. Concisely put: tell those who want to hear you what you have to say. LOL! Okay that’s convoluted I’ll admit. However: you read this blog because you either like my writing style or you think I’m pretty much on point.
And that being said- you won’t share my blog with Joe baseball who couldn’t care about business. He’s Joe baseball for petes sake! He does his job and goes to every game. Now your cousin who just joined a business like yours…. See my point.

*A way to do this in a similar way is to join linkedin and wait for the free adwords coupons they will send.
This will help you to drive traffic to your page using a proven strategy. And heck its FREE! I won’t spend time on this because to sell you on buying more they will help you get it right.

*Always mention that you are there to help. Not the most fundamental step but I learned it indirectly from my mentor. His posts and webinars, even his youtube videos either offered help directly, implied he was willing, or flat out offered help for barter/cash. And I loved it. I wanted help. I needed it.
Actually, I still do lol, and will until I’m retired. I even got my first student two weeks ago. And the best part is that as I mentor her I’m sharpening my scythe and acquiring more tools simultaneously! It is amazing what giving back and helping will do. Let them ask. They will when your contents good. Another hook to use is offer X amount of free hours as a mentor in exchange for other services. Let them help you with a testimony once they get results.
People are naturally attracted to those who make it no burden to help them. Be the go to guy and you will become captain Conversion…. But that’s TOMOORROW’S ARTICLE!
Holy haberdashery Batman!
We have been baited again!

Not exactly but I want you to read this.
TWICE.

And as a reward I will get 1000 to 1200 backlinks to my next five followers. And the same for the first 3 people to comment.
And the first person to follow, comment, and follow me on twitter and or facebook will get an hour of training via Skype or Phone call.
Who’s with me!

You only need to do THREE (3) things to be successful in ANY business.

You only need to do THREE (3) things to be successful in ANY business.

So a lot of people are online making money. And a lot more are trying to and either failing or missing goals and key conversion moments. Well I’ve got a sure fire, simple, three step plan to get you there.
What are the three magic steps?
*Create Content.
*Generate Traffic.
*Increase Conversions.

That’s it. Folks. And you can start free.
Now let’s get unpack this together.

-Create Content.
What? How? Who? Lol, I understand what I’m saying makes sense but is vastly foreign to most of my readers. But this is really easy though. First are you on Facebook, Twitter, Myspace, Bebo, Four-Square and so forth? No, get on it. Social media is the wave of the future. It is what every major and minor company is relying on to get ahead and save lost sales and in some cases increase sales; ie revenue.
Let me backtrack one step here. Create a name, a concept, or idea that you will use. Or simply use your name: @bobby_ross, facebook.com/bobby_ross. I made those up but you can do that and more. Now that you picked the name/concept and started your social media marathon. Create content. How? Well let people know who you are. Sell later introduce now. Post pics if you like. Favorite quotes. These are things that like minded people will appreciate and be drawn too. And that is a vastly simplified way of targeted marketing. The people who like what you like are good prospects. The people who are chasing success are also good. And those who don’t opt-in etc may just teach you a thing or two. My mentor doesn’t follow me on twitter but we dialog regularly via email.
-Do you have an email account? Cool get a new one and if you don’t like this idea make it and then set it to forward to your private one.
-Now that all of that’s settled let’s cover the grand daddy of content in my corner of the universe: blogging.
I love to blog and started small. I loved quotes and posted a bunch. Good quotes will always motivate me and at times light a fire under me that gets me excited and I churn out the content. In fact a great quote many times sparks a simple idea which then unravels into a three to five part concept that becomes what you are reading now. When this happens I’m actually quite excited.
-Next I map out, aka outline my article and find another quote if needed to go with my article. Then I start writing. Something anything. I now use WordPress but I started on tumblr. Tumblr was cool because it posted to my twitter and tumblr as well (@changeinadvance, facebook.com/changeinadvance). However WordPress seemed to allow more room for growth and it posts to five entities for me which is better exposure. It also tracks my stats and hits so I didn’t have to add those features.
But I digress, content right- that’s what it’s all about. People want to know who you are. What you do. Why you do it. And HOW you do it. You could have free Ferraris but if you’re a jerk in your pitch you won’t unload them (Fyi- you have to pay taxes on such freebies.) People want leadership. They want to know that anyone can be you. My mentor was broke, in foreclosure and now has tremendous success. He is a top earner in one venture, a high earner in an educational venture, and is even highly sought after as a mentor, guest speaker, and teacher of many key aspects of our business. And he talks to you and writes his blog like he’s speaking to his close friends. Get the idea? We want to create usable, enjoyable, start-up friendly content.
-After the quotes I posted pics and videos from my heroes. Now this works but I suggest making you your own articles. I also at times link to existing news stories and then create content around how this specific economic or political issue may impact business and or the financial freedom of my readers and myself. This is good because it isn’t just your thoughts, but it creates a common venue via the article you are linking back to and sharing with your audience.
-Lastly add a youtube to your repertoire of tricks. Add videos from others for sure. Inspiring ones. However what really sells, and is proven statistically is videos starring you. The public wants to see you. They don’t need Tim Burton or 3D quality- they need to meet you. Heck film it with your iphone or blackberry. Its the candid, REAL you that will bring you fans and teammates. And a huge lot of traffic. Which will be step two tomorrow. So tune in my friends for part two of this series.
