FIND A WAY (NO EXCUSES)

FIND A WAY (NO EXCUSES)

Life is hard. And in the current economy there are few ways to capitalize let alone succeed to the extreme based on the old models and economic policy. That being said it is time we all look for new methods and bigger dreams. I’ve embraced two things:
Network Marketing.
Blogging.
And I’m using them hand in hand. Now these are the tools I’ve chosen and I could make a persuasive argument on why this where the country as a whole needs to be. At the very least two thirds of the current population.
Why so many? because there are many unemployed people, under employed people, and simply unsatisfied people. However that’s not the point of contention in this article. I have a simpler point that will edify your mind and feed your wallet.

No matter what you choose there are a few key concepts that are not only proven but constant.

Work ethic.
Organization.
Continuous learning.
Leadership, not being the boss.
Find a way. Passion as fuel.

So let’s dig in.

-Work ethic.
Doctor, lawyer, businessman, artist. And all of these careers require a strong ethic. Want to be the best, you put in the hours. No excuses, no bull. It takes ten thousand hours to become a professional at anything you do. That’s a fact. Innate talent only gets you so far. Everyday, every week, every month- you put in forty hours a week. I don’t care if you have a job. Or a career, make it thirty five then. What you put in you get out. If your job or career is keeping you from building your empire then you don’t want it bad enough. In the gym I love the weights and I have high goals. But to bench four plates (405 lbs) I have to lift my way there. I have to go consistently. I have to go almost daily. I have to go weekly. And not going is only for rest periods. If I want this goal, and I can taste it my friends, I will put in the work. Coming off a back injury I’m more zealous than ever. I had a pro outline my approach and time line to get halfway there. At my peak I was only eighty pounds from my goal. And I will get there. Which segways to point two.

-Organization.
I had to get organized to hit this goal. Heck I had to get organized to chase it! And as I mentioned before I had to get help. First I sat with a friend who was a pro (Big THANK YOU!- to Paul) and he showed me a quick and simple plan to get me in the groove building greater endurance while using less time. Next we wrote it out on paper- by hand. Then I made copies so my plan of attack is always with me. Then I planned out my supplement usage and phasing. The body needs fuel literally. And pizza doesn’t cut it. I even organized the tracks on my blackberry that motivate me into one cohesive playlist so I can get it done and get it done great. In my business the same approach is used. My contacts, expenses, tools, shipments- EVERY THING is organized, sorted, and meticulously detailed when needed so I can be successful. Even my taxes and expenses have a specific software and storage area.

-Continuous learning.
I’m big on this. You need to get better. Period. I don’t care who you are or what you do. Raise the bar, take a class. PAY for a class. To be the best see the best. Football players watch films. Doctors take continuous education. In my day job we have professional development that is mandatory. So I’d the day job demands it, must we not Scream for it. And I don’t mean knowing just your product. Know you. Know sales. Know marketing. Know people. I love books. My first mentor loves audio tapes. These also work phenomenally. Bottom line its not the input method but the input. Teach yourself. Athletes have coaches- so do billionaires. You will be what you put into this life.

-Leadership, not being the boss.
Be a leader not a boss. Your team knows your the boss. The employees do to. The difference is a boss is a pain. A leader gets it done. They shouldn’t have to follow you, let them want to. Let them need to. And not need because you haven’t empowered them. No, need because they ache to do for others what you have done for them. Leaders reap what they sow, bosses get a paycheck. And I don’t know about you but I won’t live my life as a paycheck player.

-Find a way. Passion as fuel.
This is it. The end all be all people.
All the rest is almost worthless. Why? Because if you don’t find a Way, a Will- nothing happens. Life requires drive, purpose, passion. You want a million dollar yacht- get it. Need to make your why a best selling book- write it. Don’t make the excuses. Don’t tell me you have no time. Your kids require too much. Your kids can be your burden or your blessing. Let them be your motivation. I am building an empire now so I can have time with my future progeny. I’m building now so my wife can be home raising our children and not strangers as the case all too often is these days. I’m building this empire, my empire- NOW- because I must. It is my want, my need. I think about it all the time. It consumes me in a healthy way that is part passion, part fun, and part intellectually stimulating. I make it work and am amply rewarded as a result.
When cash was low early in my marriage, and I needed a website built I went to craigslist.org and hit the barter section. I soon found a guy who needed paper goods. I had bought my domain name already so we swapped a few emails and in less than a month I was up and running. When we needed money to fund this dream I found a second job. When my wife had to stay home I found work in a week. If you can’t find a way- you don’t want it.
There are no excuses only solutions.

*Lastly keep a keen eye on the finances. We’ll discuss that next time folks

Traffic’s irrelevant.

13 Aug

Traffic’s Irrelevant.

Ok. Its a total reversal. But traffic is pointless. I think I learned this in two places:
-Ray Higdon.
(@rayhigdon follow and tell him I sent you) Ray Higdons doing away with online affiliate marketing to be his best in one place and one place only.

-And my closing three new students in a week on the strength of my blog.
I’m not an A student. I’m not magna cum laude.
I don’t pen prolific prose at the drop of a dime. Or as it tickles my fancy.
However I do pour my heart into my posts. And yup I missed a few days. Life got hectic.
Injuries, family, moving, bah.
No excuses.
I dropped the ball. What did I learn? Nothing. I just remembered that even Jordan missed shots. Yup, old #23.
So I quit.
I’m not buying SEO. I’m not giving freebies to lure clients. I’m not bribing, buying, or doing the things we do to win. I’m not going to do much of anything. I’m simply going to blog. And do it to the best of my efforts. And I’m going to learn. So I blog better. So you surpass me. So you make it to the top. I won’t lie. I like to win. I love reaching my goals. But when you get there too; or even before I do. That’s better than fine cognac. Its a taste of heaven. And the internet is forever. So my victory will be as well. Shoot for the moon, and get to Mars. The stars’ll always be there.

To close this one out let me make one more point. Missing shots and keep takin’em- its a big deal. Its almost key. However. Being Authentic is the cats meow as my cousin would say. You see I blog what I like when I like. And I blog ME. Any point I make I agree with or will tell you why not. Every I article I write comes to me out of my own little methodology. I stick with my wits and my pen. Well, blackberry these days. I type what’s real. I don’t do fluff pieces or take article gigs. I only write for me and my followers. And of course the people I mentor. They have made me much sharper and I’m blessed to have them.

And so my friends remember:
FOCUS and AUTHENTICITY.
These two things will sharpen your skills and resolve while increasing your success and personal growth. And in the end you can’t get one without the other. Grow, give. Grow. Give. And all the while; Keep It Real.

Exclusive Interview #4.  Spotlighting Raquel Sweets of http://www.worldwrapfederation.com/

11 Aug

The fourth interview in a series highlighting up and coming entrepreneurs and leaders.
Today we interview Raquel Sweets

And without further ado:

-Where you from?
I’m From The Bx.

-Age?
32.

-How did you get in the game?
I started promoting records to the DJ’s for Sadaday & 5*4*20 Records.

-What made you embrace your position? When I started doing Scurry Life Dvd, it got me into the labels & I started meeting Major Artist.

-What keeps you in your position?
My constant grind.

-What are your secrets to success?
Staying on my grind everyday. Haven’t had a day off in 5 years. I’m on my Can’t Stop! Won’t Stop! Atleast until I get my infinity pool! Lol!

-What don’t you like in the game?
I don’t like when certain people in charge force feed you wack artist.

-What do you like in the game?
I like how the game changed. With all the promotional & social networking sites you have more opportunities to promote yourself.

-What would you change in the game?
Just the truthfulness of it! Just because a certain artist makes a track everybody says that’s hot when they know deep down inside it’s just mediocre. If it’s just mediocre I’ll say it!

-If I gave you a milli what or whom would
you invest in?
My damn self! Lol!

-What sets you apart from the game?
I’m not scared to speak the truth! I always call it how I see it & I don’t let up! I work on Christmas, Thanksgiving & even on my Birthday because I know the minute you let up there’s always somebody else grinding for your spot!

-What are your thoughts on 360 deals?
It’s good! Depends on the artist I guess! Records aren’t selling the way they use to. You’re lucky if you can go gold the first week. So in a way the labels have to be able to recoup the money they put out & their not doing it on sales.

-What made you love hip hop?
N.W.A. & Biggie made me fall in love with Hip Hop. I’m married to the Game! I eat, sleep & breathe this sh!t.

-Who is your fav rapper/lyricist?
Biggie & Tupac

-Best person to ever play your position? Hard to say because I play so many different positions.

-Best rapper alive?
Jay Z by default.

-Advice for my readers?
You can do anything you put your mind too! It just takes a lot of time, effort & dedication. And that “I’ll show them attitude”.

-Your definition of success?
Doing what I love & getting mucho bucks for it.

-Any projects you’d like to promo?
Scurry Life Vol. 10 ft. Brisco, Billy Blue, 40 Glocc, Sadaday, DJ Kay Slay, Young Jack Thriller, Camp Lo, Pete Rock, Bully, Malice Of The Clipse, Oun P, Chaun Don, Sam Scarfo, Spragga Benz, N.O.R.E, Nice & Smooth & Many More Out Now! Why you NEED a Blog and HOW to Blog

9 Aug

Why you NEED a Blog and HOW to Blog.

So I’ve heard the same question I asked before in many different ways-
Why blog?
Do I need a blog?
How do I blog
Why would people read my blog?

Simple.
There are billions of people on this planet and many of them are looking for the same. answers you are. And many people are looking for guidance to get there. Now you don’t have to be at the top, but you do need to know the basics. And as such, let’s explore them.

*Step 1:
Never blog about what you don’t know or can’t sell.
If u hate math, blog about anything else. If you aren’t intimately involved with a subject then you are wasting your time and your readers time. Know your subject matter. You don’t need a degree, but you need to be able to create cohesive content that isn’t convoluted but easily comprehended.
I will say that you could just rant and rant and be a pedantic ass as well or instead of. However it does nothing to help you sell YOU. Or your brand. Or your product. Or your mission. What it will do conceivably is draw attention in droves or sink you faster than the Hindenburg. You see the guy with a lot of opinions, and no facts or smarts- isn’t helping anyone. He just wants to be heard.
A good blogger isn’t always seen but his stats increase, his targeted market improves, and the fans, friends, and followers come back for more. So you can be Howard Stern, but I’d rather share insight and grow intensely. What do you want?

*Step2: Keep It Simple Stupid.
Yup, KISS works. Don’t be insulted just appreciate the simplicity. Your readers will too. Less is more when you are educating consumers and or edifying partners. Both groups want and need a simple system to emulate. They both want success. So layout a plan that isn’t convoluted or too brainy. I’ve known quite a few marketers who forget that what they have mastered- is a foreign language to their recruits. Start from the beginning. Stephen Hawkins is brilliant. An unparalleled genius. Yet his true strength lies in his ability to take complicated topics such as astrophysics, chaos math and other sciences and break them down for the common man. His books can teach you things college can’t. Because his methods and word choice is cohesive in such a fashion that a twelve year old can grasp it.
This is the goal. I don’t care if you’re Good Will Hunting or MIT’s finest. If you can’t reach the people you have failed.

*Step3: Repeat this process.
Every article, every blog, every time. Let it be simple. Let it be fun. Do your best and recreate great material. The process is is what you put into it.

*Step4: Enjoy yourself.
You should relish every step. Every blog post. Have fun. Its all yours.

*Bonus concept:
Solve problems.
When you can see what people need and supply the way or show them the path to achieving you will have the team of your dreams.

You only need to do THREE (3) things to be successful in ANY business.

6 Aug

You only need to do THREE (3) things to be successful in ANY business.

So a lot of people are online making money. And a lot more are trying to and either failing or missing goals and key conversion moments. Well I’ve got a sure fire, simple, three step plan to get you there.
What are the three magic steps?
*Create Content.
*Generate Traffic.
*Increase Conversions.

That’s it. Folks. And you can start free.
Now let’s get unpack this together.

-Create Content.
What? How? Who? Lol, I understand what I’m saying makes sense but is vastly foreign to most of my readers. But this is really easy though. First are you on Facebook, Twitter, Myspace, Bebo, Four-Square and so forth? No, get on it. Social media is the wave of the future. It is what every major and minor company is relying on to get ahead and save lost sales and in some cases increase sales; ie revenue.
Let me backtrack one step here. Create a name, a concept, or idea that you will use. Or simply use your name: @bobby_ross, facebook.com/bobby_ross. I made those up but you can do that and more. Now that you picked the name/concept and started your social media marathon. Create content. How? Well let people know who you are. Sell later introduce now. Post pics if you like. Favorite quotes. These are things that like minded people will appreciate and be drawn too. And that is a vastly simplified way of targeted marketing. The people who like what you like are good prospects. The people who are chasing success are also good. And those who don’t opt-in etc may just teach you a thing or two. My mentor doesn’t follow me on twitter but we dialog regularly via email.
-Do you have an email account? Cool get a new one and if you don’t like this idea make it and then set it to forward to your private one.
-Now that all of that’s settled let’s cover the grand daddy of content in my corner of the universe: blogging.
I love to blog and started small. I loved quotes and posted a bunch. Good quotes will always motivate me and at times light a fire under me that gets me excited and I churn out the content. In fact a great quote many times sparks a simple idea which then unravels into a three to five part concept that becomes what you are reading now. When this happens I’m actually quite excited.
-Next I map out, aka outline my article and find another quote if needed to go with my article. Then I start writing. Something anything. I now use WordPress but I started on tumblr. Tumblr was cool because it posted to my twitter and tumblr as well (@changeinadvance, facebook.com/changeinadvance). However WordPress seemed to allow more room for growth and it posts to five entities for me which is better exposure. It also tracks my stats and hits so I didn’t have to add those features.
But I digress, content right- that’s what it’s all about. People want to know who you are. What you do. Why you do it. And HOW you do it. You could have free Ferraris but if you’re a jerk in your pitch you won’t unload them (Fyi- you have to pay taxes on such freebies.) People want leadership. They want to know that anyone can be you. My mentor was broke, in foreclosure and now has tremendous success. He is a top earner in one venture, a high earner in an educational venture, and is even highly sought after as a mentor, guest speaker, and teacher of many key aspects of our business. And he talks to you and writes his blog like he’s speaking to his close friends. Get the idea? We want to create usable, enjoyable, start-up friendly content.
-After the quotes I posted pics and videos from my heroes. Now this works but I suggest making you your own articles. I also at times link to existing news stories and then create content around how this specific economic or political issue may impact business and or the financial freedom of my readers and myself. This is good because it isn’t just your thoughts, but it creates a common venue via the article you are linking back to and sharing with your audience.
-Lastly add a youtube to your repertoire of tricks. Add videos from others for sure. Inspiring ones. However what really sells, and is proven statistically is videos starring you. The public wants to see you. They don’t need Tim Burton or 3D quality- they need to meet you. Heck film it with your iphone or blackberry. Its the candid, REAL you that will bring you fans and teammates. And a huge lot of traffic. Which will be step two tomorrow. So tune in my friends for part two of this series.

ADAPT

5 Aug

ADAPT.
We are going to keep it short and simple with a one word theme so I get it done and you get a great read.

In business, as in life change is inevitable. The only question is how will you combat this to effect a success and growth rate that will not only be rewarding but sets a precedent for those who come behind you.
Below I will outline 5 simple steps to get you there.

Adjust
Do more
Articulate
Pursue
Teach

-Adjust.
You won’t get what you want all of the time, fact.
And you won’t close everyone you talk to, also a fact. However when you know that you simply have to adjust and move on the rest is easy. How? Simple. Look at your stats.
If you search out the same people as clients or partners and your results are dismal, move on. Your model of an ideal partner is off.
If you use the same basic spiel every time you pursue a new client and you only close one in ten, you have to adjust your methods.
If you have always used only one sales funnel set up and scheme, and people aren’t converting- time to adjust.
When you look at the numbers you will find your strengths and weaknesses.
When you focus on adjusting your methods and motivations you Will find the team of your dreams. You will close eighty percent of the time. Adjusting isn’t a coping mechanism- it is THE mechanism.
Remember if you are stiff, and you can’t move your rudder then you are on a collision course with failure. Adjust your sales pitch, adjust your plans, adjust your methods; just keep your passion.

-Do more.
Trying to succeed? Hoping you make the team? Need core conversions and thousands more blog hits?
DO MORE. Simple, concise, and easy.
Do more. Increase your efforts. Apply more
hours. What your doing is working, and under that assumption you need only do more. Put in the man hours the sweat. If you blog, blog more. Do a blogging bonanza where you double or triple your educative output for x amount of days. Do you mentor? Then offer the double the time for the same price for the first five followers to sign up. And then repeat this process on twitter, tumblr, facebook, pinterest- it matters only that you do more. If you were a photographer you would do the same. If you played in the NBA and you were missing your shots from the free throw line- you would take more shots. You would do this my putting in more hours at practice. If you did and hour on the courts- now you do three.

-Articulate.
Say what you want say what is needed. When you want to close people word count. Your voice is required. People will opt in but if you want them to duplicate and grow and earn a healthy income- call them. Daily. Speak with them, know them, let them know they aren’t a number. Leaders articulate well. OBAMA makes speech after speech and regardless of the numbers people listen. His choice of words rallies people to him and his causes repeatedly. A great coach does this as well. He gets people excited, passionate, he created a controlled frenzy that motivates and creates momentum. This momentum in-turn facilitates action which begets victory. See the picture?

-Pursue.
So they came to your webinar. They emailed you after saying it was pretty sweet- but they want more info. PURSUE. This isn’t a moment for discouragement. Its a moment to show that you are a person as well and that you are there, 24/7 at their disposal. Call them the next day. Discuss life and times first. Email them motivational quotes so their mind sees success while it ponders joining you in pursuit of the American Dream. Call again. It takes five to seven interactions statistically to close most people. And that means you PURSUE. Victory is elusive at times but when you chase it you will make it.

-Teach.
Great you signed’em up. You got three people a day for three days straight. Now you can relax right? WRONG.
Time to TEACH. Everything you know, you help them to master. You teach your team everything about the business. And everything that can help them in all of lifes pursuits. Knowledge pooled in to a collective and shared through proper discourse will lead to greater success for you and every member of your team. And even when the numbers are running lower than expected, as log as the team is learning you are winning. A quick close or opt-in is always there in a pinch. But a team member who generates six figures and then duplicates that repeatedly- that is a find. And where do you find that guy or gal? They are already with you. Great leaders and closers are made not born. We are all called to greatness but some people do not heed the call. We are great from inception yet many people on your team will quit. Many won’t try too hard. Not a problem. You keep teaching. You grow, they grow.
And as they grow you refine as well. Whenever you give you get.

If you cannot do great things, do small things in a great way. – Napoleon Hill

Branding CAN and WILL Define You.

31 Jul

Branding CAN and WILL Define You.

From Sony’s walkman to Apple’s ipad, we have all seen the dramatic power of simple branding and name recognition. The only question is what will you be synonymous with?

-Sony’s walkman.
Sony probably became a big player when they invented or just started carrying the ‘Walkman’. Now it wasn’t the big boy on the block revenue wise initially I’ll wager but
The iconic naming made Sony a household name when everyone bought a cassette player that fit in the palm of their hand. I had no Sony walkmans, but a ton of Aiwa’s and panasonics that I called walkmans. You see the name became bigger than the product. In fact it eclipsed it in this writers humble opinion. This is a prime example
Of letting your product define your relationship to the consumer. Find this in your business plan and you will win.

-Jordan’s 23.
Michael Jordan is perhaps the greatest player in NBA history. He’s made more wins in more ways than any player. His shoe deals, rings, and clutch plays put him at the pinnacle. He is undoubtedly the guy you want to be in your business. In any business. His number, twenty three (23), is iconic beyond even him. Even Lebron James wanted it. And used it. Kids everywhere bought jerseys with number twenty three (23). It is now a brand almost unto its self.
What is the symbol of your greatness.

-Everything is i-something now.
Yup u heard me- its ipod, ipad, icar, ifan; you name it. Steve Jobs and Apple made a supreme branding issue slash icon when they made the ipod. People lined up around the block for ipods. Then iphones and ipads hit the scene and the crowds went ape. Then the slicksters made irobot a movie, ivacuum and I smile- all kinds of products capitalizing on the i-name. It made a billion dollar aftermarket. It made products with no relation to Apple big bucks.
So will you fo the same or hope people like you for you regardless of presentation et al.

-Hd.
Hd sunglassess. Perhaps the greatest joke. On the ‘As Seen On tv’ ads people can buy HD Sunglasses. And these sunglasses in turn are selling like hot cakes. Also the hd concept for the sunglasses shows how far even television manufacturing made a dime. The simple fact is they are just sunglasses. Yet when re-branded, touching and so fort

The bottom line is whether you brand yourself or let external factors brand you- you have to be in control of both your image and your branding. These two things will put you in league with the big boys.
The question is will you brand effectively or be scared in here

#thriveorsurvive.

Any idea, plan, or purpose may be placed in the mind through repetition of thought. Napoleon Hill. #quote #Inspiration

BILLION DOLLAR AFTERMARKET

31 Jul

Everyone seems to have an ipad, heck some of you only shop apple. I’m taking mac air, iphone 4s, and the ever handy ipad. Steve Jobs may have set the bar but he also created a whirlwind of value and a few smart people seized the day. You see ipad and ipod et al after market products is over a billion dollar industry. That’s right the people not directly licensed by apple and or the products not sold in licensed retailers account for a billion plus dollars in sales.
So my friends let’s see what conclusions and lessons we can draw from this fantastic economic activity.

-See the opportunity.
When the ipod took the music world by storm people went ape. The price was irrelevant because people had what they wanted in hand. A product that was cool, sheik, useful and convenient. However the mass marketers and wholesalers who had a brain used this massive media and fan frenzy to line their pockets. Both low quality and high quality goods were churned out daily in a few different countries to feed the consumer greed and fad chasers lust for newer and better. Cases, workout sleeves, special headphones and even watch bands for certain ipod nanos stormed the market in a manner as epic as the taking of the city of troy. People saw and bought. And then bought some more. And as Apple keeps churning out that nifty product the aftermarket does too. Opportunity is staring you in the face- are you looking for it or coasting on your day job?

-You don’t need to have invented the wheel to feast on it.
Now a lot of these aftermarket products are loosely based on or directly copied from apple products and their licensed partners. However this stopped no one from creating competing consumer goods at a tenth of the price or a little more. The smart business men didn’t even create a product. They seized the moment and simply imported the product and tacked on a great enough percentage to fill their coffers and not tick off potential customers. Even 7Eleven got in on the deal selling products they didn’t own, license, or include in their aggressive marketing campaigns. Yet the products are there to catch the windfall of dollars. Are you catching yours?

-Create value.
Simply put make what they don’t know they NEED. People will buy anything if it solves problems, captures their attention or caters to a whim. The ipad was revolutionary in use size, scope- you name. People use them to fly planes, write novels, see cartoons and even manage small fortune 500 companies. You can just check your email too. But what Apple did here was create something that not only appealed to the masses but had an inherent value in many market places and careers. When you blog, or make cars or take photos at the knicks game if you don’t create something of value you are wasting time.
People don’t buy what is worthless.
People buy vintage not used.
People love innovation.
People hate wasted space.
People hate clutter in purses and backpacks- ipad solves many of these issues.
If you solved but one issue or create even a tiny bit of value you will see success you will have a fan base and a loyal customer base to boot.

-Capitalize on a niche market.
We have more or less covered this folks however I want to be clear.
Apple didn’t stop at computers.
Richard Branson has multiple businesses under one umbrella corporation.
Michael Jackson bought the Beatles rights.
In all three of these examples the victor did one thing he capitalized on a certain avenue or avenues. Branson did it over and over. Heck he still does it! Apple is taking television over sooner than we can expect. And Michael knew the Beatles were almost timeless and used his wealth to double down and added to his paychecks a lifetime of lifetimes in supplemental income. Always
Look for the niche market. What people won’t pay for is a phrasing away from Christmas pandemonium.
See it. Do it.
